Synthesis of novel highly functionalized 4-thiazolidinone derivatives from 4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazones.

چکیده
We present herein the synthesis in good yields of two series of highly functionalized thiazolidinone derivatives from the reactions of various 4-phenyl-3-thio-semicarbazones with ethyl 2-bromoacetate and diethyl acetylenedicarboxylate, respectively.

Thiosemicarbazone and 4-thiazolidinone derivatives were synthesized in one and two step, respectively, from thiosemicarbazide, in satisfactory yields. Then, the synthesized compounds were submitted to evaluation against host cells infected with Toxoplasma gondii. The present studies showed that thiosemicarbazones 2 and 4-thiazolidinone derivatives 3 were effective against intracellular T. gondii.

Some 2-iminothiazolidin-4-ones have been synthesized by the reaction of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates with thiosemicarbazones. The reaction was performed in the presence of 10 mol% of triphenylphosphine and tetrabutylammonium bromide as a phase transfer catalyst in water as a green solvent.
