Retransmission Control in Mobile Radio Slotted Aloha

چکیده
For the slotted ALOHA protocol in a mobile radio environment, a retransmission control scheme is proposed, and a rigorous analysis is developed to prove the stability of the resulting system. This analysis is shown to apply to virtually any model for the spatial distribution of the users. It is also shown that the use of retransmission control is unavoidable if the network performance predicted in the recent literature is to be achieved.

Retransmission Control and Fairness Issue in Mobile Slotted ALOHA Networks With Fading and Near-Far Effect
The effects of different retransmission control policies on the performance of a mobile data system employing the slotted ALOHA protocol are investigated, with the emphasis on the unfairness between close-in and distant users due to the near-far effect. An analytical multi-group model is developed to evaluate both the user and the network performance of the mobile slotted ALOHA network under tw...

Michele Zorzi and Ramesh R. Rao Abstract—In this paper, we consider the slotted ALOHA protocol with capture, in a mobile communication environment, in the presence of Rayleigh fading and log-normal shadowing. The capture probabilities and their asymptotic value, as the number of colliding packets tends to infinity, are computed. A sufficient condition, under which this limit is positive, is ide...
متن کاملDelay distributions of slotted ALOHA and CSMA
In this paper, we derive the closed-form delay distributions of slotted ALOHA and nonpersistent carrier sense multiple access (CSMA) protocols under steady state. Three retransmission policies are analyzed. We find that under a binary exponential backoff retransmission policy, finite average delay and finite delay variance can be guaranteed for 2 and 4 3, respectively, where is the channel traf...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Slotted ALOHA FH-SSMA Systems with Generalized Retransmission Backoff
In distributed spread-spectrum packet radio networks where the number of active users and the packet arrival rate may vary with time, an adaptive channel access protocol is necessary to avoid system saturation. In this paper, we present an analytical investigation of generalized retransmission backoff policies for slotted ALOHA FH-SSMA systems. In the backoff techniques, each user adapts the re...
متن کاملMobile radio slotted ALOHA with capture, diversity and retransmission control in the presence of shadowing
In this paper, the capture performance of a random access scheme in the presence of Rayleigh fading, shadowing and diversity is studied. The conditional throughput Cn, i.e., the average number of packets which are correctly received per slot, given the number of colliding packets, n, is computed, as well as its limit as n ! 1. Some different diversity schemes are compared. Also, retransmission ...
