Comparative Size and Bone Maturation of Normal and Abnormal Middle Fingers

چکیده
The literature pertaining to macrodactyly is sparse (F#{232}vre and Bricage 1936, Clifford 1959, Laurenzi 1962) and a clear concept of its pathogenesis does not yet exist. The most popular theory relates the condition to neurofibromatosis (Moore 1942, Inglis 1950, Mouly and Debeyre 1961). Among the cases reported some were in children (Moore 1942, Inglis 1950) but, so far as is known, studies in bone maturation and development of the affected finger have not been reported.

Abstract Background: Traumatic or congenital events can result in injury and functional deficiency in the hand and we need to reconstruct the fingers at times. Studies are available in the pediatric and adult age groups to assess the length of the thumb. But to the best our knowledge no measurement of the relative clinical length of all fingers has been reported in the literature. W...

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder originating from early childhood; nevertheless, its diagnosis is in older ages. In addition to heredity, environmental factors are also of great significance in the etiology of the disease. Dermatoglyphic patterns, albeit varied, remain stable for a lifetime and yield a large number of patterns upon examination. Studies have shown a significant associatio...
