چکیده

Examples of spaces X are constructed for which Cp(X) is not normal but all closed discrete subsets are countable. A monolithic example is constructed in ZFC and a separable first countable example is constructed using ♦.

Lindelöf property and the iterated continuous function spaces

We give an example of a compact space X whose iterated continuous function spaces Cp(X), CpCp(X), . . . are Lindelöf, but X is not a Corson compactum. This solves a problem of Gul’ko (Problem 1052 in [11]). We also provide a theorem concerning the Lindelöf property in the function spaces Cp(X) on compact scattered spaces with the ω1th derived set empty, improving some earlier results of Pol [12...

One-point extensions of locally compact paracompact spaces

A space $Y$ is called an {em extension} of a space $X$, if $Y$ contains $X$ as a dense subspace. Two extensions of $X$ are said to be {em equivalent}, if there is a homeomorphism between them which fixes $X$ point-wise. For two (equivalence classes of) extensions $Y$ and $Y'$ of $X$ let $Yleq Y'$, if there is a continuous function of $Y'$ into $Y$ which fixes $X$ point-wise. An extension $Y$ ...

Tightness of compact spaces is preserved by the t - equivalence relation

We prove that if there is an open mapping from a subspace of Cp(X) onto Cp(Y ), then Y is a countable union of images of closed subspaces of finite powers of X under finite-valued upper semicontinuous mappings. This allows, in particular, to prove that if X and Y are t-equivalent compact spaces, then X and Y have the same tightness, and that, assuming 2 > c, if X and Y are t-equivalent compact ...

Representability of Certain Function Spaces

LetCp(X) be the space of all continuous real-valued functions on a space X , with the topology of pointwise convergence. In this paper we show thatCp(X) is not domain representable unless X is discrete for a class of spaces that includes all pseudo-radial spaces and all generalized ordered spaces. This is a first step toward our conjecture that if X is completely regular, then Cp(X) is domain r...

ON TOPOLOGICAL CLASSIFICATION OF FUNCTION SPACES Cp(X) OF LOW BOREL COMPLEXITY

We prove that if X is a countable nondiscrete completely regular space such that the function space C (X) is an absolute FaS-set, then C (X) is homeomorphic to <7°° , where a = {(x¡) e R00:*, = 0 for all but finitely many i} . As an application we answer in the negative some problems of A. V. Arhangel'skii by giving examples of countable completely regular spaces X and y such that X fails to be...
