Treatment by Imipramine of Deafness and Depression

چکیده
aminoacid sequences in common which are thought to bind hormones to specific sequences of DNA and modify the gene transcription (Beato, 1989). The complex formed by the binding of a steroid with a receptor is translocated into the cell nucleus where it binds to DNA and influences the expression of genes So the activation in depression of the HPA axis involves various steps in producing excess Cortisol and then inducing genomic change. The blockade at each one of them is being targeted to antagonise the effects of stressful life events in producing depression or in the treatment of depression. The therapeutic potential of antiglucocorticoid drugs especially type II receptor antagonists and steroid synthesis inhibitors have been explored with encouraging results in patients with mood disorders (Mitchell & O'Keanne, 1998).

Effect of metyrapone supplementation on imipramine therapy in patients with treatment-resistant unipolar depression.
The paper describes the effect of metyrapone supplementation on imipramine therapy in patients (with treatment-resistant unipolar depression) who fulfilled DSM IV criteria for major depression. Nine patients were enrolled to the study on the basis of history of their illness and therapy. Following 2 weeks of washout period, the patients were treated with imipramine twice daily (100 mg/day) for ...
متن کاملEffect of imipramine treatment on plasma dopamine beta-hydroxylase activity in chronic mild stress in rats.
Dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH) which catalyzes conversion of dopamine into noradrenaline, may be a good blood marker of unipolar depression. Therefore, we studied the effect of classic antidepressant drug imipramine (10 mg/kg ip) on activity of this enzyme in plasma of rats subjected to chronic mild stress (CMS), the model of anhedonia. CMS induced reductions in DBH activity by the second day ...

متن کاملAmantadine as an additive treatment in patients suffering from drug-resistant unipolar depression.
The paper describes the effect of amantadine addition to imipramine therapy in patients suffering from treatment-resistant unipolar depression who fulfilled DSM IV criteria for major (unipolar) depression. Fifty patients were enrolled in the study on the basis of their histories of illness and therapy. After a 2-week drug-free period, 25 subjects belonging to the first group were treated only w...
متن کاملEffect of imipramine on brain D-1 and 5-HT-2A receptors in a chronic unpredictable stress model in rats.
Chronic unpredictable stress (CUS) model of depression is one of the well validated animal models of depression. In this paper, we report the results of investigations into dopaminergic D-1 and serotonergic 5-HT-2A receptors in the brain of rats subjected to CUS procedure and treated chronically with imipramine. We have examined the dopaminergic D-1 ([3H-SCH 23390) in the limbic area and seroto...
