Measurement Standards for Low and Medium Peak Pulse Voltages

چکیده
Two systems for the measurement and standardization of peak pulse voltage have recently been developed in the Radio Standards Engineering Division of the National Bureau of Standards. Des igned for use with pulses having durations as short as 10 nanoseconds, the s ystems represent the initi al e ffort by NBS for establishment of standards in this fi eld and it is expected that they will serve as the basis for a calibration service. One of the systems is a refined, slideback voltmeter employing a solid state diode. The ri se time is less than 10 nanoseconds and the instrument is useful for meas urements in the range 5V to 100V as presently constructed. The second system standardizes the output peak voltage level of pulse generators by means of cascaded zener diodes . The clipping level of the diodes is determined first by doc voltage measurements and the sys tem is subsequently used to generate pulses of known peak amplitudes. The rise time of the diodes is approximately 30 nanoseconds. The accuracy of both sys tems is within 0.25. percent, and co mparison measurements have been made between the two , and with other NBS a-c and rf (CW) voltage standards.

Controlling Common-Mode Voltages in Multilevel Inverters
This paper proposes a novel method based on pulse width modulation techniques toreduce and control the common-mode voltage in three-phase multilevel inverters. Besides controllingthe common-mode voltage, this method is capable of controlling capacitors voltages and load currentswith low switching losses and harmonic contents. In fact, due to the existence of different pulsepatterns and the poss...
متن کاملBinary Peak-power Multiplier and Its Application to Linear Accelerator Design*
The voltage gained by a charged particle traversing an accelerator section is proportional to the peak power into the section. Thus a high peak power results in high particle voltages in a relatively short distance, a practical requirement of high particle energy accelerators. Pulse compression is a means to obtain high peak power. This note describes a new method of pulse compression, the Bina...

Magnetic induction tomography (MIT) is a promising modality for noninvasive imaging due to its contactless technology. Being a non-contact safe imaging technique, MIT has been an appropriate method in compare to other electrical tomography. In this imaging method, a primary magnetic field is applied by excitation coils to induce eddy currents in the material to be studied and a secondary magnet...

In this paper, the combination of conduction with radiation into a semitransparent medium which includes absorption, emission and scattering has been investigated. In order to Study the conduction in medium, the Non-Fourier heat conduction has been applied. In this model there is a time delay between heat flux and temperature gradient. Also, in contrast with Fourier heat conduction, the speed o...

The present work describes a selective, rapid and sensitive method for the determination of cobalt using the adsorptive differential pulse voltammetry technique. The method is based on the accumulation of Co(II) complex with 2-aminocyclopentene-1-dithiocarboxylic acid on a hanging mercury drop electrode, followed by measurement of the current of the adsorbed complex. The effects of experimental...
