چکیده

Generic object detection and tracking is an integral requirement of navigation and collision avoidance for autonomous mobile platforms. Robustly calculating the scene flow of complex urban traffic environments remains a difficult research problem, and the contextual information generated from this process can be valuable to other downstream decision-making processes. This paper presents the implementation of an object detection and tracking system that calculates scene flow from a stereo camera image stream. We detail the various stages of the processing pipeline, as well as highlight several of the salient design challenges and considerations that surfaced throughout development and suggest several possible solutions.

An Evaluation Approach for Scene Flow with Decoupled Motion and Position

This chapter presents a technique for estimating the three-dimensional displacement vector field that describes the motion of each visible scene point. This displacement field consists of the change in image position, also known as optical flow, and the change in disparity and is called the scene flow. The technique presented uses two consecutive image pairs from a stereo sequence. The main con...

Variationelle 3D-Rekonstruktion aus Stereobildpaaren und Stereobildfolgen

Variational optical flow methods have established themselves as one of the most accurate and well understood techniques for motion estimation from image sequences. They minimise a single global energy functional that models the temporal constancy of certain image properties, e.g. the image grey value, while imposing some form of regularity on the displacement field. Over the course of time, opt...

Towards Real-time Stereo using Non-uniform Image Sampling and Sparse Dynamic Programming

Constructing the 3D mesh of a scene from stereo images is a major task in computer vision. It usually involves several steps including stereo matching and meshing. Unfortunately, the time required to generate the 3D mesh is time demanding due to the large amount of pixels to be processed. In this work, we propose a framework to accelerate the overall process. The key issue is to first reduce th...

Efficient Dense Scene Flow from Sparse or Dense Stereo Data

This paper presents a technique for estimating the threedimensional velocity vector field that describes the motion of each visible scene point (scene flow). The technique presented uses two consecutive image pairs from a stereo sequence. The main contribution is to decouple the position and velocity estimation steps, and to estimate dense velocities using a variational approach. We enforce the...

Estimations simultanées du flot de scène et d’occultations par un système d’EDP Simultaneous scene flow and occlusions estimations by using a common PDE framework

This paper presents a method for scene flow estimation from a calibrated stereo image sequence. The scene flow contains the 3-D displacement field of scene points, so that the 2-D optical flow can be seen as a projection of the scene flow onto the images. We propose to recover the scene flow by coupling the optical flow estimation in both cameras with dense stereo matching between the images, t...
