چکیده

When sheets of layered material like C, WS 2 or BN are restricted to finite sizes, they generally form single-and multi-walled hollow nanoparticles in order to avoid dangling bonds. Using continuum approaches to model elastic deformation and van der Waals interactions of spherical nanoparticles, we predict the variation of mechanical stability, adhesive properties and phase behavior with radius R and thickness h. We find that mechanical stability is limited by forces in the nN range and pressures in the GPa range. Adhesion energies scale linearly with R, but depend only weakly on h. Deformation due to van der Waals adhesion occurs for single-walled particles for radii of few nm, but is quickly suppressed for increasing thickness. As R is increased, the gas-liquid coexistence disappears from the phase diagram for particle radii in the range of 1-3 nm (depending on wall thickness) since the interaction range decreases like 1/R.

Identification of Dynamic Damping Properties of a Flexible Structural Adhesive

In this paper dynamic damping properties of a nominated flexible structural adhesive have been identified using an extended-direct modal based joint identification method. It has been revealed that damping characteristics of adhesive are correlated to both frequency and mode shape. Young’s and shear moduli increase with frequency but damping on the other hand, decrease. The results showed that ...

Palladium/tin bimetallic single-crystalline hollow nanospheres.

Hollow Pd/Sn bimetallic nanocrystals were fabricated by a fast one-pot strategy in an oleylamine system. This method produced a fine single crystalline bimetallic hollow nanostructure. The process and influencing factors of the reaction are also discussed in this work. Bimetallic nanoparticles possessing special hollow structures with single-crystalline nature are expected to have particular el...

Mechanical and Thermal Stresses in a FGPM Hollow Cylinder Due to Non-Axisymmetric Loads

In this paper, the general solution of steady-state two-dimensional non-axisymmetric mechanical and thermal stresses and mechanical displacements of a hollow thick cylinder made of fluid-saturated functionally graded porous material (FGPM) is presented. The general form of thermal and mechanical boundary conditions is considered on the inside and outside surfaces. A direct method is used to sol...
