Occurrence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Mycobacterium peregrinum in ornamental fish

چکیده
Systemic mycobacteriosis was diagnosed in a group of ornamental fish. Although a large number of acid-fast bacterial rods were identified in the kidneys, liver, and muscles of each fish, no granulomas were observed in internal organs. Mycobacterium peregrinum was identified using the GenoType Mycobacterium CM assay. This study illustrates a considerable risk of atypical mycobacteriosis in humans.

In vitro susceptibilities of rapidly growing mycobacteria to telithromycin (HMR 3647) and seven other antimicrobials.
The antimicrobial activities of telithromycin (HMR 3647) and seven other antimicrobials against 94 strains of rapidly growing mycobacteria were determined. Telithromycin at a concentration of 1 microg/ml inhibited Mycobacterium peregrinum (100%), Mycobacterium chelonae (80%), Mycobacterium abscessus-Mycobacterium mucogenicum (44.4%), and Mycobacterium fortuitum (2.1%). All or most strains of M....

OBJECTIVES To study the resistance of biofilms developed by non-pigmented rapidly growing mycobacteria (NPRGM) against amikacin, ciprofloxacin and clarithromycin in an in vitro model using clinical strains of different species. DESIGN Antimicrobial susceptibilities of different clinical strains of Mycobacterium abscessus, Mycobacterium chelonae, Mycobacterium fortuitum, Mycobacterium peregrin...
متن کاملCharacterization and antimicrobial susceptibility of motile aeromonads isolated from freshwater ornamental fish showing signs of septicaemia.
A total of 74 phenotypically identified presumptive motile Aeromonas isolates recovered from septicaemic freshwater ornamental fish in Sri Lanka were genetically characterized by sequencing of rpoD and gyrB genes. rpoD/gyrB phylogeny confirmed only 53 isolates as Aeromonas, among which A. veronii was the predominant species (79.2%), followed by A. hydrophila (7.5%), A. caviae (5.7%), A. jandaei...
متن کاملDraft Genome Sequence of Mycobacterium peregrinum Strain CSUR P2098
Mycobacterium peregrinum is a nonpigmented rapid growing nontuberculosis species belonging to the Mycobacterium fortuitum group. The draft genome of M. peregrinum type I CSUR P2098 comprises 7,109,836 bp exhibiting a 66.23% G+C content, 6,894 protein-coding genes, and 100 predicted RNA genes. Its genome analysis suggests this species differs from Mycobacterium senegalense.
متن کاملIsolation, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility of pathogenic Aeromonas media isolated from diseased Koi carp (Cyprinus carpio koi)
Aeromonas infections are the most common bacterial disease of cultured fish in China. In this study, a gram-negative bacillus was isolated from the liver of diseased koi carp (Cyprinus carpio koi), and named strain KC-2. The results of morphological and biochemical tests, as well as phylogenetic analysis derived from 16S rRNA and gyrB sequences indicated that the isolated strain KC-2 was highly...
