چکیده
E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT: Crinum is a well-known traditional herb belongs to family Amaryllidaceae. Worldwide, different Crinum species are commonly used to treat various conditions due to their excellent medicinal values. Members of this genus are also best known biofactories for the unique Amaryllidaceae alkaloids. Due to the significant phytoconstituents produced by this plant as well as their therapeutic potentials, many Crinum species have been subjected to extensive chemical, cytological and pharmacological investigations. This part of our comprehensive review work on the chemical and biological profiles of Crinums describes the results of biological and toxicological studies conducted on different species. In addition, general analytical conclusions as well as some suggestions for future phytochemical and biological work on Crinums are discussed.

The Zebrafish is a preeminent model organism that, with its most prominent features, has expanded the boundaries of science in many disciplines. Characteristics of this small freshwater fish, with the help of biologists, showed that it has a highly comparable genetic with mammals such as mice and rats. For example, the emergence of new and efficient methods for duplicating and editing the genom...
متن کاملAnalysis of selected Crinum species for galanthamine alkaloid: an anti-Alzheimer drug
Galanthamine, an isoquinoline alkaloid and the current drug of choice for treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer disease, is mainly obtained from Amaryllidaceae members. At present, the production of galanthamine from available natural plant sources is not sufficient to meet the demands of pharmaceutical industry. Additionally, overexploitation of the plant material leads to the depletion of a...
متن کاملIn Vitro Antibacterial Activity of Crinum Purpurascens Herb. Leaf Extract Against the Salmonella Species Causing Typhoid Fever and Its Toxicological Evaluation
Background: Crinum purpurascens is a herbaceous plant belonging to the Amaryllidaceae family. We aimed to evaluate the antisalmonellal properties of the leaf extracts and fractions of C. purpurascens, and the toxicity of the most active extract. Methods: Three extracts and three fractions were prepared from the leaves of Crinum purpurascens Herb. (Amaryllidaceae) and tested for their antisalmon...
