The Optical Emission Lines as a Probe of State Transitions in Black-hole Candidates
نویسنده
چکیده
Optical spectroscopic studies of emission lines in black-hole candidates can help us investigate state transitions in those systems. Changes in the optical line profiles reflect changes in the geometry of the accretion flow, usually associated with Xray state transitions in the inner region. We identify at least four optical states in the black-hole candidate GRO J1655−40 in outburst, and two optical states in GX339−4.

The phase transition of corrected black hole with f(R) gravity
In this letter, we consider static black hole in f(R) gravity. We take advantage from corrected entropy and temperature and investigate such black hole. Finally, we study the $ P - V $ critically and phase transition of corrected black hole with respect to entropy and temperature. Here also, we obtain the heat capacity for the static black hole in $ f(R) $ gravity. This calculation help us...
متن کاملOn Gravitomagnetic Precession and Qpo in Black Hole Candidates
The X-ray observation of black hole candidates provides a valuable tool to probe regions very close to the central black hole, where strong-field relativistic effects become important. Recent studies have shown that these effects seem to manifest themselves in the observed X-ray spectrum, in terms of the shape of X-ray continuum and the profile of emission lines, and in the X-ray light curves, ...
متن کاملFormation of Optical Lines in Black-hole Binaries
The H I Balmer emission lines of black-hole binaries show double-peaked profiles during the high-soft state and the quiescent state. In the high-soft state the profiles are asymmetric with a stronger red peak, but the profiles are symmetric in the quiescent state. We suggest that in the high-soft state the emission lines originate from the temperature-inversion layer caused by irradiative heati...
متن کاملMonte-Carlo Simulations of Thermal Comptonization Process in a Two Component Accretion Flow Around a Black Hole
We compute the effects of thermal Comptonization of soft photons emitted from a Keplerian disk around a black hole by the post-shock region of a sub-Keplerian flow, known as the CENtrifugal pressure dominated BOundary Layer (CENBOL). We show that the spectral state transitions of black hole candidates could be explained either by varying the outer boundary of the CENBOL, which also happens to b...
متن کاملStellar-mass Black Hole Spin Constraints from Disk Reflection and Continuum Modeling
Accretion disk reflection spectra, including broad iron emission lines, bear the imprints of the strong Doppler shifts and gravitational red-shifts close to black holes. The extremity of these shifts depends on the proximity of the innermost stable circular orbit to the black hole, and that orbit is determined by the black hole spin parameter. Modeling relativistic spectral features, then, give...
