چکیده
The essential results of the mode-coupling theory for the evolution of structural relaxation in simple liquids such as the Debye-Waller-factor anomaly, the critical decay, von Schweidler’s law, the α and β -relaxation scaling, the appearance of two divergent time scales, and Kohlrausch’s law for the α -process are explained, and their relevance to the understanding of experiments in glass-forming systems is described.

Diffusive Dynamicsof Binary Lennard-Jones Liquid in the Presence of Gold Nanoparticle: A Mode Coupling Theory Analysis
Molecular dynamics simulation has been performed to analyze the effect of the presence of gold nanoparticle on dynamics of Kob-Anderson binary Lennard-Jones (BLJ) mixture upon supercooling within the framework of the mode coupling theory of the dynamic glass transition. The presence of gold nanoparticle has a direct effect on the liquid structure and causes the peaks of the radial distribution ...
متن کاملTagged-particle motion in glassy systems under shear: Comparison of mode coupling theory and Brownian dynamics simulations.
We study the dynamics of a tagged particle in a glassy system under shear. The recently developed integration through transients approach, based on mode coupling theory, is continued to arrive at the equations for the tagged-particle correlators and the mean squared displacements. The equations are solved numerically for a two-dimensional system, including a nonlinear stability analysis of the ...
متن کاملYield stress, heterogeneities and activated processes in soft glassy materials*
The rheological behaviour of soft glassy materials results essentially from the interplay between shearing forces and an intrinsic slow dynamics. This competition can be described by a microscopic theory, which can be viewed as a nonequilibrium schematic mode-coupling theory. This statistical mechanics approach to rheology results in a series of detailed theoretical predictions, some of which a...
متن کاملGaussian density fluctuations , mode coupling theory , and all that
– We consider a toy model for glassy dynamics of colloidal suspensions: a single Brownian particle diffusing among immobile obstacles. If Gaussian factorization of static density fluctuations is assumed, this model can be solved without factorization approximation for any dynamic correlation function. The solution differs from that obtained from the ideal mode coupling theory (MCT). The latter ...
متن کاملGlassy dynamics: mean-field landscape pictures versus growing length scale scenarii
This is a short review on the compatibility between (a) mean-field, mode-coupling theories of the glass transition, where potential energy landscape ideas are natural, and (b) the necessity of describing the slowing down of glassy materials in terms of a growing cooperative length, absent from mean-field descriptions. We summarize some of the outstanding questions that remain before we can say ...
