چکیده

Studies with polio-infected HeLa cells using cell disruption techniques during the early stages of infection have shown that: The inoculum of poliovirus adsorbed on HeLa cells is largely inactivated. Infective virus accumulates in a monolayer sheet of cells in advance of release into the medium. The eclipse period is shorter in multiply infected cells than in those infected with a single particle.

Poliovirus Particles do not Form in Preinfected Cells with Reovirus

Background and Aims: Inhibition of viral growth in coinfected cells with two different viruses has been described. This phenomenon known as viral interference can occur in several virus host systems such as interference of enterovirus infection on poliovirus vaccine strains. In this study we superinfected reovirus infected HeLa cells with poliovirus to determine if poliovirus can replicate in s...

Inhibition of poliovirus replication by prostaglandins A and J in human cells.

Cyclopentenone prostaglandins (PGs) inhibit the replication of a wide variety of enveloped DNA and RNA viruses. The antiviral activity is associated with alterations in the synthesis, maturation, and intracellular translocation of viral proteins. In the present report, we describe the effects of cyclopentenone PGs PGA1 and delta 12-PGJ2 on poliovirus (PV) replication in HeLa cells. Both PGs wer...

Evaluation and comparison of Hela, Hep2C and Vero cell lines sensitivity to polio vaccinal virus using micro and macro vaccine potency tests

Poliomyelitis, an acute viral infectious disease caused by poliovirus, still remains a public health problem in developing countries. Despite the global effort to eradicate polio, continuing the polio immunization with a potent and safe vaccine is essential. For accurate vaccine evaluation, three types of cell lines including Hela, Hep2C and Vero were evaluated and compared using two methods of...

Evolution of poliovirus defective interfering particles expressing Gaussia luciferase.

Polioviruses (PVs) carrying a reporter gene are useful tools for studies of virus replication, particularly if the viral chimeras contain the polyprotein that provides all of the proteins necessary for a complete replication cycle. Replication in HeLa cells of a previously constructed poliovirus expressing the gene for Renilla luciferase (RLuc) fused to the N terminus of the polyprotein H(2)N-R...

The cap-binding protein complex in uninfected and poliovirus-infected HeLa cells.

In poliovirus-infected HeLa cells, the mechanism of protein synthesis initiation factor recognition of m7G cap groups on mRNA is impaired. Translation of capped host cell mRNAs is inhibited, whereas translation of uncapped poliovirus mRNA proceeds exclusively. The site of this defect has been localized to the cap-binding protein complex (CBPC). To elucidate the specific structural and functiona...
