Nebula — Temperature - spectral index inverse correlation in several regions

چکیده
We have mapped with the French submillimeter balloon-borne telescope ProNaOS the thermal emission of the dust in the M42 Orion Nebula. The map obtained is 50' by 40' with an angular resolution of about 3' in the four efficient wavelengths 200 µm, 260 µm, 360 µm and 580 µm. The temperature and index we obtain are highly variable within the studied region: the temperature varies from 12 K to 70 K, and the spectral index from 1.1 to 2.2. The statistical analysis of the temperature and spectral index spatial distribution in this region, as well as in the other regions mapped by ProNaOS, shows an evidence of an inverse correlation between these two parameters. We deduce the column densities of gas and the masses. Being invisible in the IRAS 100 µm survey, some cold clouds are likely to be the seeds for future star formation activity going on in the complex.

Submillimeter mapping and analysis of cold dust condensations in the Orion M42 star forming complex
We present here the continuum submillimeter maps of the molecular cloud around the M42 Nebula in the Orion region. These have been obtained in four wavelength bands (200, 260, 360 and 580 μm) with the ProNaOS two meter balloon-borne telescope. The area covered is 7 parsecs wide (50 arcmin at a distance of 470 pc) with a spatial resolution of about 0.4 parsec. Thanks to the high sensitivity to f...
متن کاملEvaluation of land degradation trend using satellite imagery and climatic data (Case study: Fars province)
Introduction: Climate change and human activities have a direct impact on land vegetation. Decreased rainfall and increased temperature are among the climate change factors leading to significant changes in water resources and energy balance in affected areas. On the other hand, human activities such as growing population, overgrazing and land use changes that make change in land conditions, al...
متن کاملThe Radio Spectral Index of the Crab Nebula
We present the results of a new, comprehensive investigation of the radio spectral index of the Crab Nebula supernova remnant. New data at 74 MHz are combined with data at 327 MHz, 1.5 GHz and 5 GHz. In contrast to previous claims, little spatial variation in the spectral index is seen. In particular, between 327 MHz and 5 GHz we see no evidence of spectral steepening near the edge of the nebul...

متن کاملInverse temperature dependence of the dust submillimeter spectral index
We present a compilation of PRONAOSbased results concerning the temperature dependence of the dust submillimeter spectral index, including data from Galactic cirrus, star-forming regions, dust associated to a young stellar object, and a spiral galaxy. We observe large variations of the spectral index (from 0.8 to 2.4) in a wide range of temperatures (11 to 80 K). These spectral index variations...
