چکیده

Advances in magnetoresistive (MR) type sensors provide a new technique for nondestructive evaluation NDE of metal structures. GMR and GMI sensors provide high sensitivity and reduced size, with GMI sensors also adding capabilities of high frequency range of measurements. Being produced with thin film processing techniques, the manufacturing cost of these sensors is low. An example is considered of detecting defects in printed circuit boards. System details and experimental results are provided. Computational modeling validation is introduced based on finite element as well as method of moments analysis.

Bare Pcb Inspection by Mean of Ect Technique with Spin-valve Gmr Sensor

The high-sensitive micro eddy-current testing (ECT) probe composed of planar meander coil as an exciter and spin-valve giant magneto-resistance (SV-GMR) sensor as a magnetic sensor for bare printed circuit board (PCB) inspection is proposed in this paper. The high-sensitive micro ECT probe detects the magnetic field distribution on the bare PCB and the image processing technique analyzes output...

Spatial detection of ferromagnetic wires using GMR sensor and based on shape induced anisotropy

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new technique for row spacing measurement in a wire array using giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor. The self-rectifying property of the GMR-based probes leads to accurately detection of the magnetic field fluctuations caused by surface-breaking cracks in conductive materials, shape-induced magnetic anisotropy, etc. The ability to manufacture probes h...

Nondestructive Evaluation of Damage in Beams Using Displacement Curvature

In this paper, the capabilities of displacement curvature derived from static response data for finding the location and severity of damage in Euler-Bernoulli beams are assessed. Static response of a beam is obtained using the finite element modeling. In order to reduce the number of measured nodal displacements, the beam deflection is fitted through a polynomial function using a limited number...
