Qualitative Pose Estimation by Discriminative Deformable Part Models
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a discriminative deformable part model for the recovery of qualitative pose, inferring coarse pose labels (e.g., left, frontright, back), a task which we expect to be more robust to common confounding factors that hinder the inference of exact 2D or 3D joint locations. Our approach automatically selects parts that are predictive of qualitative pose and trains their appearance and deformation costs to best discriminate between qualitative poses. Unlike previous approaches, our parts are both selected and trained to improve qualitative pose discrimination and are shared by all the qualitative pose models. This leads to both increased accuracy and higher efficiency, since fewer parts models are evaluated for each image. In comparisons with two state-of-the-art approaches on a public dataset, our model shows superior performance.

Class-Specific Object Pose Estimation and Reconstruction Using 3D Part Geometry
We propose a novel approach for detecting and reconstructing classspecific objects from 2D images. Reconstruction and detection, despite major advances, are still wanting in performance. Hence, approaches that try to solve them jointly, so that one can be used to resolve the ambiguities of the other, especially while employing data-driven class-specific learning, are increasingly popular. Pose estimation is an important problem that has a wide array of applications such as pedestrian detection, sports video analysis, action recognition, etc. The entire human...
متن کاملMultiple Tree Models for Occlusion and Spatial Constraints in Human Pose Estimation
Tree-structured models have been widely used for human pose estimation, in either 2D or 3D. While such models allow efficient learning and inference, they fail to capture additional dependencies between body parts, other than kinematic constraints between connected parts. In this paper, we consider the use of multiple tree models, rather than a single tree model for human pose estimation. Our m...

We investigate the task of 2D articulated human pose estimation in unconstrained still images. This is extremely challenging because of variation in pose, anatomy, clothing, and imaging conditions. Current methods use simple models of body part appearance and plausible configurations due to limitations of available training data and constraints on computational expense. We show that such models...

Object detection and segmentation algorithms need to use prior knowledge of objects’ shape and appearance to guide solutions to correct ones. A promising way of obtaining prior knowledge is to learn it directly from expert annotations by using machine learning techniques. P...
