چکیده

T h e PROSPECT leaf optical properties and SAIL canopy reflectance models were coupled and inverted using a set of 96 AVIRIS (Airborne Visible~Infrared Imaging Spectrometer) equivalent spectra gathered in afield experiment on sugar beet plots expressing a large range in leaf area index, chlorophyll concentration, and soil color. In a first attempt, the model accurately reproduced the spectral reflectance of vegetation, using six variables: chlorophyll a + b concentration (C~), water depth (Cw), leaf mesophyll structure parameter (N), leaf area index (LAI), mean leaf inclination angle (0 O, and hot-spot size parameter (s). The four structural parameters (N, LAI, 01, and s) were poorly estimated, indicating instability in the inversion process; however, the two biochemical parameters (Cab and Cw) were evaluated reasonably well, except over very bright soils. In a second attempt, three of the four structure variables were assigned a fixed value

Inversion of the PROSPECT + SAIL Canopy Reflectance Model from AVIRIS Equivalent Spectra: Theoretical Study

T h e potentials and limits of estimating canopy parameters are investigated using only a reflectance spectrum in the optical domain, and the PROSPECT + SAIL model. Simulations are performed on A VIRIS (Airborne Visible~Infrared Imaging Spectrometer) equivalent spectra, corrected for the atmospheric effects. It is established that this model is numerically invertible. The sensitivity analysis o...

A model-based approach for mapping rangelands covers using Landsat TM image data

Empirical models are important tools for relating field-measured biophysical variables to remotely sensed data. Regression analysis has been a popular empirical method of linking these two types of data to estimate variables such as biomass, percent vegetation canopy cover, and bare soil. This study was conducted in a semi-arid rangeland ecosystem of Qazvin province, Iran. This paper presents t...

بررسی رفتار سری زمانی بازتاب طیفی و شاخص‌های پوشش گیاهی مزارع چغندرقند با استفاده از داده‌های سنجنده MODIS

Remote sensing technology is widely used in environmental and agricultural research, and nowadays it has become a valuable and reliable source of information for the management of crop production and assessment of global supply and demands for these products. The objective of this study was to investigate the feasibility of using MODIS data and vegetation indices based on sugar beet growth moni...

Adjustment procedures of a crop model to the site specific characteristics of soil and crop using remote sensing data assimilation

Crop models can be useful tools for estimating crop growth status and yield on large spatial domains if their parameters and initial conditions values can be known for each point. By coupling a radiative transfer model with the crop model (through a canopy structure variable like LAI), it is possible to assimilate, for each point of the spatial domain, remote sensing variables (like reflectance...

Extracting ecological and biophysical information from AVHRR optical data: An integrated algorithm based on inverse modeling

Satellite remote sensing provides the only means of directly observing the entire surface of the Earth at regular spatial and temporal intervals. Key Earth system variables can be obtained from satellite data by integrating appropriate processing, interpretation, and modeling. For example, the amount of photosynthetically active radiation absorbed by plants (APAR) and land surface albedo can be...
