Critical Behavior of Random Bond Potts Models

چکیده
The effect of quenched impurities on systems which undergo first-order phase transitions is studied within the framework of the q-state Potts model. For large q a mapping to the random field Ising model is introduced which provides a simple physical explanation of the absence of any latent heat in 2D, and suggests that in higher dimensions such systems should exhibit a tricritical point with a correlation length exponent related to the exponents of the random field model by ν = νRF/(2−αRF−βRF). In 2D we analyze the model using finite-size scaling and conformal invariance, and find a continuous transition with a magnetic exponent β/ν which varies continuously with q, and a weakly varying correlation length exponent ν ≈ 1. We find strong evidence for the multiscaling of the correlation functions as expected for such random

Renormalisation group calculation of correlation functions for the 2D random bond Ising and Potts models
We find the cross-over behavior for the spin-spin correlation function for the 2D Ising and 3-states Potts model with random bonds at the critical point. The procedure employed is the renormalisation approach of the perturbation series around the conformal field theories representing the pure models. We obtain a crossover in the amplitude for the correlation function for the Ising model which d...

We report on large-scale Wang-Landau Monte Carlo simulations of the critical behavior of two spin models in two(2d) and three-dimensions (3d), namely the 2d random-bond Ising model and the pure 3d Blume-Capel model at zero crystal-field coupling. The numerical data we obtain and the relevant finite-size scaling analysis provide clear answers regarding the universality aspects of both models. In...

The critical behavior in the short-time dynamics for the random-bond Potts ferromagnet in two-dimensions is investigated by short-time dynamic Monte Carlo simulations. The numerical calculations show that this dynamic approach can be applied efficiently to study the scaling characteristic, which is used to estimate the critical exponents θ, β/ν and z, for the quenched disorered systems from the...

We study the universality class of the fixed points of the 2D random bond q-state Potts model by means of numerical transfer matrix methods. In particular, we determine the critical exponents associated with the fixed point on the Nishimori line. Precise measurements show that the universality class of this fixed point is inconsistent with percolation on Potts clusters for q = 2, corresponding ...
متن کاملRandom-bond Potts models on hypercubic lattices: high-temperature series expansions*
We derive high-temperature series expansions for the free energy and the susceptibility of random-bond qstate Potts models on hypercubic lattices using a stax-graph expansion technique. This method enables the exact calculation of quenched disorder averages for arbitrary uncorrelated coupling distributions. Moreover, we can keep the disorder strength p as well as the dimension d as symbolic par...
