An Introduction to Radiation Counters and Detectors
نویسنده
چکیده
In short then, this is a book of considerable value, most obviously to psychologists, obstetricians, pediatricians and others who may be called upon to counsel prospective parents, but the enormous range of disorders influenced by the genetic constitution of the host makes it imperative that this book be read as a text in basic medical science. It is encouraging to know that a comprehensive survey of human genetics such as this exists, and it is to be hoped that this neglected field will receive more attention, perhaps as a direct consequence of its presence.

Evaluation of the Interference of the Microwave Radiation Emitted from GSM Mobile Phones on the Performance of Cell Counters
Abstract Background and Objectives: Incidents related to electromagnetic interference with medical devices have been reported over the past decades. It has also been indicated that the microwave radiation emitted from mobile phones interferes with the operation of medical devices therefore, this study aimed at testing the interference by GSM mobile phones with cell counters. Material and Method...
متن کاملAn5 Radiation Detectors and Dosimetry
Aims Studying this chapter should give you some appreciation of the variety of radiation detectors available and equip you with some practical knowledge about their characteristics and uses. This chapter also contains practical knowledge about the description and measurement of the effects of radiation on humans. You should learn how the problem of measuring doses is currently handled in terms ...
متن کاملDeveloping a software for simulation of gaseous detectors with Monte carlo method in c++ programming language
In this paper we consider a gaseous detector and supposed, because of pass of an ionizing radiation, an electron created inside it. By numerical simulation with monte carlo method and concluding the impacts, scatterings and creation of secondary electrons, we find the trajectory of initial and secondary electrons. Dependence of number of secondary electrons to applied electrical field is invest...
متن کاملNovel concept for neutron detection: proportional counter filled with 10B nanoparticle aerosol
The high neutron detection efficiency, good gamma-ray discrimination and non-toxicity of 3He made of proportional counters filled with this gas the obvious choice for neutron detection, particularly in radiation portal monitors (RPM), used to control the illicit transport of nuclear material, of which neutron detectors are key components. 3He is very rare and during the last decade this gas has...
متن کاملComprehensive applications of the gas flow proportional counters for Radiological Surveillance
Gas Flow Proportional Counters (GFPC) have been developed indigenously for various radiation protection applications. These detectors can be fabricated for 2” diameter filter paper sample counting applications to large area (~1500 cm) detectors for surface contamination applications. Thin entrance windows allow nonpenetrating type of radiations like alpha and low energy beta particles. Efficien...
