A confocal microscopic study on biofilm formed by Pseudomonas spp. isolated from lower respiratory tract infection from HIV and non-HIV populations

چکیده
Background Pseudomonas is one of the predominant microorganisms of chronic lung infections. Bacteria growing in biofilm often develop multicellular, three-dimensional structures known as micro colonies. Pseudomonas colonizes the lungs by forming biofilm micro colonies throughout the lung. In this study, using Pseudomonas spp. artificial biofilm was grown on flow cell chamber and images were taken using Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM), to establish an experimental model for artificial biofilm in vitro.

Molecular characterization of Pseudomonas sp. isolated from lower respiratory tract infection in HIV and non-HIV population by 16S rDNA and ARDRA
Background P. aeruginosa an important pathogen causing lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) both in HIV and nonHIV population. Molecular characterization of Pseudomonas spp. helps in better understanding of their clonal distribution among these patient populations. Our study aims to discriminate and generate highly specific fingerprints using 16S-rDNA PCR and amplified ribosomal DNA restri...
متن کاملFrequency of Candida species isolated from the Oral Cavity of HIV-Infected Patients referring to Behavioral disease Counseling Center of Isfahan in 2017-2018
Background and Aim: patients infected with HIV are susceptible to opportunistic infections such as candidiasis. In normal individuals, Candida spp. exist as normal flora of the mucous membranes. In this study we compared the frequencies of different species of Candida between HIV infected patients receiving anti-retroviral therapy (ART) and normal individuals. Materials and Methods: This case...
متن کاملInvestigation of Biofilm ability by Microtiter Plate Method in uropathogenic Escherichia coli isolated from patients with urinary tract infection with urinary stones.
Abstract: Background and Aim: Urinary tract infections are one of the most commonly reported nosocomial infections caused by colonization of E. coli in the mucosal epithelium and in the formation of microbial biofilms, which damage the host tissue. The aim of this study was to determine the amount of biofilm formation of uropathogenic E. coli based on urinary tract stones of people with urin...

Background-Opportunistic pulmonary disease remains an important cause of acute illness and death in patients with advanced HIV disease. A structured approach to respiratory complaints in these can result in a timely and cost-effective evaluation Materials and methods-Sputum and blood samples were collected from100 HIV seropositives with lower respiratory tract infection. Sputum processed for ba...
متن کاملOropharyngeal candidiasis in HIV/AIDS patients and non-HIV subjects in the Southeast of Iran
Background and Purpose: Candida species are the common opportunistic pathogens during the course of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Oropharyngeal candidiasis (OPC) is generally known as the initial sign of HIV infection. The aim of this study was to compare demographic characteristics and frequency of Candida species between HIV/AIDS patients and non-HIV subjects in Kerman, southe...
