چکیده

In this paper, we study the magnetic switching of submicron-sized ferromagnetic thin films under thermal noise and external field. It is shown that the presence of the noise makes the switching easier with weaker external fields and induces more intermediate metastable states in the switching pathways. Different switching pathways are preferred at different temperatures. A quantitative relation between the temperature and the switching field for different metastable states is given through an adjusted Arrhenius formula near the critical field. Based on this, preferred switching pathways at different temperatures are obtained by comparing the energy barriers along different pathways. © 2005 American Institute of Physics. Structural, Electrical, Magnetic and Resistive Switching Properties of the Multiferroic/Ferroelectric Bilayer Thin Films

Bi0.8Pr0.2Fe0.95Mn0.05O₃/Bi3.96Gd0.04Ti2.95W0.05O12 (BPFMO/BGTWO) bilayer thin films with Multiferroic/Ferroelectric (MF/FE) structures were deposited onto Pt(111)/Ti/SiO₂/Si(100) substrates by using the sol-gel method with rapid thermal annealing. The BPFMO/BGTWO thin films exhibited well-saturated ferromagnetic and ferroelectric hysteresis loops because of the electro-magnetic coupling induce...

Magneto-Thermo-Elastic Stresses and Perturbation of Magnetic Field Vector in a Thin Functionally Graded Rotating Disk

In this paper, a semi-analytical solution for magneto-thermo-elastic problem in an axisymmetric functionally graded (FG) hollow rotating disk with constant thickness placed in uniform magnetic and thermal fields with heat convection from disk’s surfaces is presented. Solution for stresses and perturbation of magnetic field vector in a thin FG rotating disk is determined using infinitesimal theo...

خواص نوری- مغناطیسی و ضرایب اپتیکی لایه‌های نازک منگنز-کبالت

Having precise hysterics loop of thin ferroelectric and ferromagnetic layers for optical switching and optical storages are important. A hysterieses loop can be achieved from a phenomenon call the magneto-optic effect. The magneto-optic effect is the rotation of a linear polarized electromagnetic wave propagated through a ferromagnetic medium. When light is transmitted through a layer of magnet...

Direct observation of non-Gaussian distribution of local magnetic properties in ferromagnetic thin films

We report our experimental finding that magnetic properties of Co-based multilayer films are shown to exhibit their local variations far from the Gaussian ~or Lorentzian! distribution which are usually assumed. The local variations of the coercivity and the field dependence l(52]ln t/]H) were determined from measurements of the hysteresis loop and the field-dependent switching time t , respecti...

Energy landscape and thermally activated switching of submicron-sized ferromagnetic elements

Thermally activated switching and the energy landscape of submicron-sized magnetic elements are studied using the string method. For thin films, we found that switching proceeds by two generic scenarios: Domain-wall propagation and reconnection followed by edge domain switching, or vortex nucleation at the boundary followed by vortex propagation through the sample. The second scenario is prefer...
