چکیده
Purpose: Through observing the effect of high-dose methylprednisolone treatment on active AS with acute anterior uveitis (AAU) to evaluate the influence of methylprednisolone on the serological cytokines IL-23 and IL-17 in AS patients with AAU. We try to explore the clinical effect and possible mechanism of high-dose methylprednisolone treatment on AS with AAU. Methods: The present study included 40 AS patients who were recruited according to the 1984 revision of the AS classification standards in New York. The clinical characteristics of the patients were assessed. Of the 40 AS patients, 4 had AAU. The patients were administered methylprednisolone at a dose of 3-4 mg/kg/d through the vein for 3 days, and a total of 3 courses were administered with an interval of 4 days. We observed the degree of eye inflammation before and after the treatment. Additionally, the levels of the cytokines IL-23 and IL-17 were measured. Results: In the 4 AS patients with AAU, the eye symptoms and visual acuity improved after treatment with high-dose methylprednisolone. Additionally, the serum levels of IL-23 and IL-17 declined significantly. Conclusion: High dose methylprednisolone had a distinct curative effect in active AS patients with AAU, especially for local therapy incompletely response or ineffective AAU. Additionally, high dose methylprednisolone can significantly reduce the levels of IL-23 and IL-17 in AS patients with AAU.

Acute anterior uveitis, ankylosing spondylitis, back pain, and HLA-B27.
One hundred and sixty-nine patients with acute anterior uveitis were studied for the presence of HLA-B27 tissue type, radiological evidence of ankylosing spondylitis, and a history of back pain. 60% were male; 45% were HLA-B27+. The male:female ratio in the HLA-B27+ group was the same as in the whole group. 24% had radiological evidence of ankylosing spondylitis, and, of these, 83% were HLA-B27...
متن کاملThe association of human leukocyte antigen B27 with anterior uveitis in patients from the western region of Saudi Arabia: a retrospective study
BACKGROUND The association of human leukocyte antigen B27 (HLA-B27) with anterior uveitis is well known. The prevalence of HLA-B27 and its relation to anterior uveitis is related to race and geographic location. The association is strongest in Western countries and weakest in Eastern countries. Data regarding this association from Middle Eastern countries are limited. Thus, we undertook the stu...

Samples of the faeces of 153 consecutive patients presenting with acute anterior uveitis (AAU), and of 47 controls were examined for the presence of Klebsiella pneumoniae. No increase in the carriage rate of klebsiella was found in the AAU patients as compared with the controls. Furthermore no increase was found in any group of patients whether subdivided by HLA-B27 status, sex, or presence of ...

AIMS/BACKGROUND Anterior uveitis associated with juvenile chronic arthritis concerns two different clinical entities: firstly, antinuclear antibody (ANA) positive patients who have a chronic anterior uveitis with severe complications and often a poor visual prognosis; secondly, usually HLA-B27 positive children, predominantly boys, with unilateral recurrent anterior uveitis. Three patients are ...
