چکیده
A yellow fever outbreak was detected in Angola late in December 2015 and was confirmed by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases in South Africa and Institut Pasteur of Dakar, Senegal in 20 January 2016. Subsequently, a rapid increase in the number of cases was observed. From 5 December 2015 to 22 September 2016, 4,143 suspected cases were registered, among them 884 laboratory confirmed cases and 121 deaths (case fatality rate: 13.7%). Considering the epicurve of suspected and confirmed cases, the epidemic peak occurred between February and March 2016.

Phylogenetic inference of the sequence data demonstrated 95% nucleotide sequence similarity between the virus from this outbreak and the 14F YFV strain isolated in Angola in 1971 (Figure). PCR and se-quencing results were reported to Ango...

Chikungunya Fever in Traveler from Angola to Japan, 2016
Simultaneous circulation of multiple arboviruses presents diagnostic challenges. In May 2016, chikungunya fever was diagnosed in a traveler from Angola to Japan. Travel history, incubation period, and phylogenetic analysis indicated probable infection acquisition in Angola, where a yellow fever outbreak is ongoing. Thus, local transmission of chikungunya virus probably also occurs in Angola.
