چکیده

KODAMA, H., OKADA, S., INUI, K., YUTAKA, T. and YABUUCHI, H. Studies on ƒ¿-Ketoglutaric Aciduria in Type I Glycogenosis. Tohoku J. exp. Med., 1980, 131 (4), 347-353 Urinary excretion of the organic acids in patients with type I and III glycogenosis was investigated. In all patients with type I glycogenosis, urinary ƒ¿-ketoglutarate concentration was about 10 times the normal value. ƒ¿Ketoglutaric aciduria was not improved by the acute or prolonged administration of a large dose of cofactors for pyruvateand ƒ¿-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase complex. On the other hand, the level of ƒ¿-ketoglutarate in the urine from type I patients decreased in conjunction with the decrease of plasma lactate and pyruvate con centration after repeated oral glucose loading. Oral citrate loading brought an increased excretion of ƒ¿-ketoglutarate in type I glycogenosis. It is possible that ƒ¿-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase is the rate-limiting step in tricarboxylic acid cycle

A Description of Reference Ranges for Organic Acids in Urine Samples from A Pediatric Population in Iran

Background: Organic acids refer to a family of compounds that are intermediates in a variety of metabolic pathways. Many organic acids are present in urine from clinically normal individuals. Elevated levels of urine organic acids cause to the organic acidurias, disorders in which some metabolic pathways in organic acid metabolism are blocked. The present work identified major and minor urinary...

Development and Validation of a GC-FID Method for Diagnosis of Methylmalonic Acidemia

Background: Urinary organic acids are water-soluble intermediates and end products of the metabolism of amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids, and a number of other metabolic processes. In the hereditary diseases known as organic acidurias, an enzyme or co-factor defect in a metabolic pathway leads to the accumulation and increased excretion of one or more of these acidic metabolites. Gas chromato...

Gas-chromatographic method of analysis for urinary organic acids. II. Description of the procedure, and its application to diagnosis of patients with organic acidurias.

A gas-chromatographic method for urinary organic acid analysis is described, designed to be used routinely for the diagnosis of organic aciduria. It involves extraction of urine with ethyl acetate, dehydration of extract residues, and trimethylsilylation. Organic acids are identified by using an extensive list of retention indices published in the accompanying paper (this issue). Quantitative v...

Evaluation the Effects of Foliar Treatments of Polyamines and Some Organic Acids on Quantitative and Qualitative Traits in Some Pistachio Cultivars

Among the most important problems of pistachio are physiological disorders such as fruit abscission and production of blank nuts. Environmental stresses and inadequate nutrition during flowering time have increased these problems in recent years. In order to evaluate the effects of foliar treatments with polyamines and other compounds (amino acids and ascorbic acid) on quantitative and qualitat...

Urinary organic acids in man. III. Quantitative ranges and patterns of excretion in a normal population.

We studied the urinary excretion of organic acids by normal human subjects in an ambulant normal population, chosen without conscious bias. Quantitative ranges and frequency distribution patterns of excretion are reported, as a basis on which to compare results obtained for patients whose clinical condition suggests that their excretion values may be abnormal. The quantitative valuse we observe...
