چکیده

Semiclassical approach has been developed for the one-dimensional interacting fermion systems. Starting from the incommensurate spin density wave (SDW) mean field state for the repulsive Hubbard model in 1D, the nonAbelian bosonized Lagrangian describing the spin-charge separation is obtained. The Berry phase term is derived from the chiral anomaly, and we obtain the massless Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid in the single chain case while the spin gap opens in the double-chain system. This approach offers a new method to identify the strong-coupling fixed point, and its relation to the Abelian bosonization formalism is discussed on the spin gap state. The generalization to higher dimensions is also discussed. 74.20.Mn, 74.25.Ha, 75.10.Jm Typeset using REVTEX 1

QED from six-dimensional vortex and gauge anomalies

Starting from an anomaly-free Abelian Higgs model coupled to gravity in a 6-dimensional space-time we construct an effective four-dimensional theory of charged fermions interacting with U(1) Abelian gauge field and gravity, both localised near the core of a Nielsen-Olesen vortex configuration. We show that an anomaly free theory in 6-dimensions can give rise to an anomalous theory in D=4, which...

Induced quantum numbers in (2+1)-dimensional QED.

In this paper the vacuum polarization effects of fermions interacting with Abelian gauge fields are studied in 2+1 dimensions. We find that for a gauge field configuration with magnetic flux 27rrF, there is induced charge Q, spin S and angular momentum J given by Q = -z ,+ 1 m F, S = ;, J = -i fi F2 (m = fermion mass). A simple argument is offered to explain the physics of these quantum numbers...

Gravitational Anomalies in Noncommutative Field Theory

Gravitational axial and chiral anomalies in a noncommutative space are examined through the explicit perturbative computation of one-loop diagrams in various dimensions. The analysis depend on how gravity is coupled to noncommutative matter fields. DelbourgoSalam computation of the gravitational axial anomaly contribution to the pion decay into two photons, is studied in detail in this context....

Chiral symmetry breaking and violation of the Wiedemann-Franz law in underdoped cuprates

We propose that the recently observed violation of theWiedemannFranz law in the normal state of underdoped cuprates is caused by spin-charge separation and dynamical chiral symmetry breaking in a (2+1)-dimensional system consisting of massless Dirac fermions, charged bosons and a gauge field. While the d-wave spinon gap vanishes at the Fermi points, the nodal fermions acquire a finite mass due ...

Filled Band Fermi Systems

Extending the results in (B.M.) on one dimensional interacting fermions in a periodic potential we study the infrared behaviour of the two points Schwinger function in the lled band case. If the fermions are spinless such behaviour is completely determined and it depends on the ratio between the amplitude of the gap and the strength of the interaction. If the ratio is large the Schwinger functi...
