چکیده

Materials and Methods This is a prospective review of patients with displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures admitted to a Level 1 trauma centre under the care of a single primary trauma surgeon over a 1-year period from February 2010 to January 2011. A total of 9 patients with 11 closed calcaneal fractures were enrolled into the study. Only 1 calcaneal fracture per patient was treated. Sanders classifi cation was used to describe the fracture confi guration and only type II and III calcaneal fractures were recruited. Preand post-operative radiographic imaging was obtained to determine and monitor the Bohler’s angle, Gissane’s angle and talocalcaneal angles. All patients had preoperative computed tomography (CT) of the calcaneum to evaluate the fracture confi guration.

Norian SRS cement compared with conventional fixation in distal radial fractures. A randomized study.

BACKGROUND A prospective, randomized multicenter study was conducted to evaluate closed reduction and immobilization with and without Norian SRS (Skeletal Repair System) cement in the management of distal radial fractures. Norian SRS is a calcium-phosphate bone cement that is injectable, hardens in situ, and cures by a crystallization reaction to form dahllite, a carbonated apatite equivalent t...

Pediatric and Adolescent Intra-Articular Fractures of the Calcaneus

Calcaneal fractures in childhood are very rare, whereas particularly intra-articular displaced fractures are not typical in skeletally immature children. Various techniques of osteosynthesis have been described. This study aimed to determine clinical and radiological outcome after surgical treatment of intraarticular calcaneal fractures. Fourteen intraarticular fractures of the calcaneus were i...

Closed Reduction and Percutaneous Fixation of Calcaneal Fractures in Children.

Open reduction and internal fixation has been widely used to treat displaced intra-articular calcaneus fractures in children. However, the complications of surgical trauma and the wound created through the extended lateral approach cannot be ignored. This study analyzed the outcomes of displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures in children treated with closed reduction and percutaneous fixat...

Functional outcome of operatively treated displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures using two parallel contoured reconstruction plates.

INTRODUCTION The treatment of displaced intra-articular calcaneal fracture is controversial. Conventionally, they were treated non-operatively. However, some surgeons are now operatively treating these fractures because of continuing dissatisfaction with the outcome of conservative treatment of these fractures and improvements that have occurred in surgical techniques and complication rates. ...

Subtalar fusion after displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures: does initial operative treatment matter? Surgical technique.

BACKGROUND Many patients with displaced intra-articular calcaneal fractures require subtalar arthrodesis for the treatment of posttraumatic arthritis. We hypothesized that patients who underwent initial operative treatment would have better functional outcomes as compared with those who underwent initial nonoperative treatment before undergoing a subtalar arthrodesis. METHODS A consecutive se...
