Salt supplementation of corn-soy diets for swine.

چکیده
Four experiments involving 448 crossbred pigs have been conducted to determine the supplemental salt needs of growing-finishing swine fed conventional corn-soybean meal diets. In the various trials, supplemental salt levels ranging from 0 to 1.0% of the diet were fed to pigs from 40 to 60 lb (18 to 27 kg) to 210 to 220 lb (95 to 100 kg). Pigs fed supplemental salt (.1 to 1.0%) gained significantly faster than pigs fed no additional salt. There were no statistically significant differences between any of the supplemental salt levels. In all trials, gains were maximized at a level of .2% salt. Feed conversion data followed the same pattern as the gain data. Pigs fed no supplemental salt exhibited significantly poorer feed efficiency while the feed to gain ratio of all supplemental levels was similar. (

Effect of Supplemental Choline on Performance of Starting, Growing and Finishing Pigs: a Cooperative Regional Study
Severn hundred pigs were used in experiments at eight stations to evaluate the efficacy of supplemental dietary choline during the starting, growing and finishing production phases. Increasing levels of choline chloride were added to corn-soy-lysine basal diets formulated to contain 15% crude protein (.95% lysine), 13% crude protein, (.75% lysine) and 11% crude protein (.55% lysine) for the sta...
متن کاملThe effects of corn silage particles size and fat supplement on feed intake, digestibility, ruminal function, chewing activity, and performance in mid-lactating Holstein dairy cows
An experiment was carried out to determine the effect of corn silage particle size and fat supplements on performance, solid passage rate through the digestive tract, and chewing behavior in dairy cows. The forages were coarse or fine corn silage with geometric means of 8.8±2.7 and 5.6±2.8 mm, and alfalfa with geometrics means of 7.0±3.3 mm, and fat supplements were neutral fat (palm) and soy-o...

The objective of this experiment was to compare the effects of 2 sources of phytase on performance of commercial Leghorns fed corn-soy diets. Seven diets were fed to Hy-line W-36 hens (n = 840; 8 replicates of 15 hens per treatment) from 21 to 33 wk of age. The treatments consisted of a control diet containing 0.38% nonphytate P (NPP) and a 2 x 3 factorial arrangement of 2 dietary NPP concentra...
متن کاملEnrichment of eggs with lutein.
Lutein is being considered as a nutrient for prevention of macular degeneration in the aging population. Two experiments were designed to study the transfer efficiency of lutein from the layers' diet into the egg. In experiment 1, laying hens were fed corn-soy diets supplemented with 0, 125, 250, 375, 500, 625, 750, or 1000 ppm of lutein. After 30 d, eggs were collected and assayed for lutein. ...

A study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary α-amylase and β-xylanase supplementation of corn-soy diets, formulated with or without supplemental phytase, on growth performance, energy utilization, and starch digestibility in broiler chickens. A total of 336 slow-feathering, Cobb × Cobb 500 male broilers were randomly distributed to 6 treatments having 8 replicates of 7 birds each. B...
