Capacity reservation for multimedia traffic
نویسندگان
چکیده
stract We introduce a capacity reservation scheme for multimedia trac. We compare it to other algorithms in the literature. It has been implemented and its worst-case performance has been analysed. It appears to give a noticeably improved quality of service to delay-sensitive trac.

A Dynamic Packet Reservation Multiple Access Scheme for Wireless ATM
The dynamic packet reservation multiple access (DPRMA) scheme, a medium access control protocol for wireless multimedia applications, is proposed and investigated. DPRMA allows the integration of multiple traffic types through a single access control mechanism that permits users to specify their immediate bandwidth requirements. The primary feature of DPRMA is the dynamic matching of the traffi...
متن کاملAdaptive Bandwidth Reservation Scheme for Multimedia Traffic Using Mobile Agents
The bandwidth reservation for multimedia traffic poses technical challenges due to bursty and delay sensitive nature of applications. The objectives of bandwidth reservation schemes are: optimize network utilization, minimize the packet losses and delays. The growth of multimedia services on Internet and the possible discovery of programmable networks has made us to investigate new techniques f...
متن کاملDynamic Admission Control and Resource Reservation for Wcdma
Current and next generation wireless networks including 3 generation (3G) and beyond are expected to provide a wide range of multimedia services with different QoS constraints. Call admission control (CAC) and resource reservation (RR) for mobile communication are of the most important issues that guarantee system efficiency and QoS required for different services in a very scarce resource as t...
متن کاملA bandwidth reservation mechanism for prioritized multimedia integrated access with very high channel throughput in beyond 3G TDMA-based wireless networks
A Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol for mobile wireless multimedia communications is presented and investigated. The new ideas presented in the protocol are combined with well known policies from the literature and the protocol is shown to achieve very high channel throughput results, whilst preserving the strict Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for all traffic types. We evaluate, via s...
