Report of a right ventricular outflow tract myxoma in a young adult

چکیده
Background Primary cardiac masses are rare and usually benign. Myxomas are usually seen in adults, accounting for 25%-40% of all cardiac tumors from birth to adolescence. The majority of myxomas (75%) are located in the left atrium. Right ventricular myxomas are very rare, only found in 2%-4% of cases. The most important distinguishing feature of a myxoma is the characteristic narrow stalk and tumor mobility, although sessile, non-mobile myxomas can also occur. Myxomas may be homogeneous or may have central areas of heterogeneity representing hemorrhage and necrosis. Calcification may also be detected. In adults, differential diagnosis for an intracavitary cardiac mass includes thrombus, myxoma, lipoma and nonmyxomatous neoplasms.

Asymptomatic Myxoma Originating from the Right Ventricular Outflow Tract
Asymptomatic right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) myxoma is quite rare. We report an unusual case of asymptomatic myxoma arising from the RVOT which was successfully surgically removed.

Cardiac myxomas are the most common neoplasms of the heart. They can be located in any chamber of the heart but frequently in the left atrium. In this report we present a patient who had been treated for a right ventricular myxoma originating from the interventricular septum and leading to right ventricular outflow tract obstruction.

INTRODUCTION Primary cardiac tumors are uncommon during infancy and childhood. Myxomas originating from the right ventricle are even less common in pediatric patients. CASE PRESENTATION Here we describe a case of an 11-year-old Tunisian boy who was referred for syncope. Transthoracic echocardiography revealed a large mobile mass attached to his right ventricle, obstructing his right ventricul...

Atrial cardiac myxoma is the most common benign cardiac tumour. Atrial myxoma most commonly arises from the left atrium and, less frequently, from the right atrium or both ventricles. Cardiac myxoma arising from the tricuspid valve is rare. These tumours can present with right heart failure as a result of right ventricular outflow tract obstruction. A high index of suspicion and appropriate inv...

A12-year-old previously healthy girl developed syncope when walking at school. When she was seen in the emergency department, her heart rate was 115 bpm, the precordial impulse was active, and a thrill was palpated. Third and fourth heart sounds were heard. A grade 4/6 systolic ejection murmur was heard at the left upper sternal border. The chest x-ray demonstrated a mildly enlarged, globular h...
