چکیده
Rev Esp Cardiol. 2005;58(9):1117 1117 A 69-year-old patient with a history of hypertension was admitted to the hospital for an acute coronary syndrome. Coronary arteriography showed a myocardial bridge at the mid-distal third of the left anterior descending artery with marked systolic compression. The fractional flow reserve (FFR) following intravenous infusion of adenosine (140 μg/kg) was 0.68. Since an FFR value <0.75 had been documented, it was not necessary to repeat the measurement with dopamine inotropic stimulation, as has been recommended for functional assessment of myocardial bridges. The presence of a diastolic gradient in this patient suggests IM AG E S I N CA R D I O L O G Y

Normalisation of abnormal coronary fractional flow reserve associated with myocardial bridging using an intracoronary stent.
Although intracoronary stenting procedures have been advocated for the successful treatment of myocardial ischaemia associated with myocardial bridging, the physiological rationale for this approach remains unexplored. The case of a 70 year old man with symptoms of cardiac ischaemia associated with a left anterior descending coronary artery bridge is described, where use of an intracoronary ste...
متن کاملFractional flow reserve: a new paradigm for diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease
Fractional flow reserve (FFR) is an index of the physiological significance of a coronary stenosis and is defined as the ratio of maximal blood flow in a stenotic artery to normal maximal flow. It can be easily measured during coronary angiography by calculating the ratio of distal coronary pressure to the aortic pressure. FFR in a normal coronary artery equals 1.0. An FFR value of ≤0.80 indica...

متن کاملFractional flow reserve with dobutamine challenge and coronary microvascular endothelial dysfunction in symptomatic myocardial bridging.
BACKGROUND Myocardial bridging (MB) results in compression of the coronary artery lumen in systole, extending into diastole with resultant hemodynamic alternation as reflected by fractional flow reserve (FFR). MB has also been associated with coronary endothelial dysfunction. The objective of this study was to investigate relationship between FFR with dobutamine challenge and coronary microvas...
متن کاملFractional Flow Reserve and Coronary Computed Tomographic Angiography
Background: Invasive Fractional Flow Reserve Obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) produces symptoms and increases the risk of adverse cardiac outcomes. However, determining whether a particular coronary stenosis is responsible for causing myocardial ischemia can be challenging, even with invasive coronary angiography (ICA). To help guide decisions in the cardiac catheterization laboratory,...
