چکیده

There are seven species bearded dragons of which the most common in the pet trade is the inland or central bearded dragon (P. vitticeps). In smaller numbers, the common bearded (P. barbata) and the Rankin's (P. henrylawsonii) have become more widely available and the number of captive-bred animals is slowly increasing. Adenovirus infections have been reported in the common bearded dragon, the Rankin's dragon and the inland bearded dragon. Recently these viruses have been shown to belong to the genus Atadenovirus (AAdV-1, agamid adenovirus 1), indicating a reptilian origin.

Voriconazole, a safe alternative for treating infections caused by the Chrysosporium anamorph of Nannizziopsis vriesii in bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps).

Dermal and systemic infections caused by the Chrysosporium anamorph of Nannizziopsis vriesii (CANV) are highly prevalent in reptiles and may result in severe disease and high mortality. Due to the high incidence of therapeutic failures, optimizing treatment is required. We first determined in this study the minimal inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of itraconazole, voriconazole, amphotericin B an...

Effects of vitamin D3 supplementation and UVb exposure on the growth and plasma concentration of vitamin D3 metabolites in juvenile bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps).

The effectiveness of dietary vitamin D3 and UVb exposure on plasma vitamin D metabolites in growing bearded dragons (Pogona vitticeps) was studied. A total of 84 (40 males and 44 females) newly hatched bearded dragons were allocated to six levels of oral vitamin D3 supplementation (0 to 400%) or six UVb exposure times (2 to 12 h). At 3 and 6 months of age, blood samples were obtained from each ...
