Harmonic Reduction in Grid Connected Solar PV System By Using SVPWM Technique

Renewable energy sources are gaining more importance in the energy scenario. The advances in the technologies associated with the increase of efficiency of solar panels, the photovoltaic (PV) solar energy has gained momentum in this new scenario. The absence of galvanic isolation in transformer less PV systems will give rise to capacitive leakage current between the photovoltaic system and the load. The problem of leakage current in the PV will result in current distortions and harmonics in the system. Also the presence of non – linear loads in a distribution system will inject harmonics in to the system. In this paper for the reduction in harmonics Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) is Implemented and compared with SPWM. The simulation results of three phase three-level SPWM and three phase three level SVPWM inverter are compared in terms of Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) rate.
