OFDM-based Medium Access with Rate Constraints

چکیده
For wireless local area networks based on OFDM we study the sum rate of time and frequency division multiple access (TDMA, OFDMA) as well as superimposed transmission (SUP). In the analysis traffic-imposed constraints on the maximum exploitable user rates apply. For a large number of subcarriers the effective sum rate is low with TDMA but much higher with OFDMA and SUP. The spatial properties of the channel determine which one of OFDMA and SUP performs best.

Adaptive Subcarrier Assignment and Power Distribution in Multiuser OFDM Systems with Proportional Data Rate Requirement
A low complexity dynamic subcarrier and power allocation methodology for downlink communication in an OFDM-based multiuser environment is developed. The problem of maximizing overall capacity with constraints on total power consumption, bit error rate and data rate proportionality among users requiring different QOS specifications is formulated. Assuming perfect knowledge of the instantaneo...
متن کاملAn OFDM-TDMA/SA MAC Protocol with QoS Constraints for Broadband Wireless LANs
Abstract— Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is an important technique to support high speed transmission of broadband traffic in wireless networks, especially broadband wireless local area networks (LANs). Based on OFDM, a new multiple access scheme, called OFDM-TDMA with subcarrier allocation (OFDMTDMA/SA), is introduced in this paper. It provides more flexibility in resource a...

This paper investigates the Multi-band OFDM (MB-OFDM) based physical (PHY) layer proposal for IEEE 802.15.3a working group on short-range high data-rate Ultra-wide-Band (UWB) communications. An overview of the MB-OFDM PHY layer architecture with its various parameters is presented and the optimal choice of critical parameters is discussed. Next, we derive the theoretical un-coded Bit Error Rate...

Spectrum sharing and multiple-access techniques are challenging matters for future wireless communication systems. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been considered as the most important physical layer candidate for the next generation wireless systems. Alternatively, multiband OFDM (MB-OFDM) approach has shown some novelty and efficiency for high-rate (HR) WPAN applications...
متن کاملUsing WPT as a New Method Instead of FFT for Improving the Performance of OFDM Modulation
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in order to provide immunity against very hostile multipath channels in many modern communication systems.. The OFDM technique divides the total available frequency bandwidth into several narrow bands. In conventional OFDM, FFT algorithm is used to provide orthogonal subcarriers. Intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interferen...
