Determination of total iron as Fe(II) in multivitamins, haematinics and natural waters using a sequential injection (SIA) system

چکیده
The determination of total iron in pharmaceutical products and natural waters as Fe(II) using a sequential injection system was investigated. A cadmium reductor consisting of cadmium granules was used to reduce Fe (III) to Fe (II). The Fe (II) was then determined (by its reaction with 1,10 Phenanthroline ) as a [Fe(phen)3 ] complex at 515 nm with a UV/Vis spectrophotometer. The linear range of the system is between 1 and 60 mg/l with a detection limit of 0.18 mg/l. The proposed system is suitable for the determination of total iron as Fe(II) in pharmaceutical products and natural waters at a rate of 24 samples/hour with a relative standard deviation of less than 2.5%. Statistical comparison between the proposed sequential injection (SIA) system, certified values and the standard methods (Inductively Coupled Plasma {ICP} and UV/Vis spectrophotometry) revealed that there is no significant difference at the 95% confidence level.

Sequential injection trace determination of iron in natural waters using a long-pathlength liquid core waveguide and different spectrophotometric chemistries
We developed a sequential injection analysis (SIA) method for the determination of iron in coastal, ground, and surface fresh waters using two different reagents (ferrozine and 1,10-phenathroline). The methodology uses a double-line SIA system to improve mixing conditions between sample and reagent solutions. A liquid waveguide capillary cell (LWCC) with 1.0 m pathlength, 550 μm i.d., and 250 μ...

A simple, rapid and sensitive solvent assisted-dispersive solid phase extraction method was developed for the extraction of iron(II) prior to its spectrophotometric determination. The Fe(II) reacted with 2,4,6-tris(2-pyridyl)-1,3,5-triazine, neutralized with sodium dodecyl sulfate and extracted onto the fine particles of benzophenone which were formed upon rapid injection of a mixture of benzop...
متن کاملSeparation and Determination of Fe(III) and Fe(II) in Natural and Waste Waters Using Silica Gel Sequentially Modified with Polyhexamethylene Guanidine and Tiron
Silica gel, sequentially modified with polyhexamethylene guanidine and pyrocatechin-3,5-disulfonic acid (Tiron), was suggested for sorption separation and determination of Fe(III) and Fe(II). It was found that quantitative extraction of Fe(III) and its separation from Fe(II) were attained at pH 2.5-4.0, while quantitative extraction of Fe(II) was observed at pH 6.0-7.5. An intensive signal with...
متن کاملUsing sequential injection analysis for fast determination of phosphate in coastal waters.
A sequential injection analysis system (SIA) is described which is suited for the fast determination of filterable molybdate reactive phosphate (FRP, 0.2mum) in coastal waters. It processes up to 270 samples per hour with a detection limit (3sigma) of 0.05muM and is used for surface mapping of phosphate in areas with steep concentration gradients like the Wadden Sea. The determination is based ...
