چکیده

This paper presents the proposed architecture and functionality of a knowledge-based system Webocrat. Proposed system is expected to play the role of an advanced communication forum enabling to create, store and share information among different kinds of users. Currently Webocrat focuses on the field of eDemocracy and therefore it is expected to bring public administration closer to citizens, making it more accessible and at the same time also accountable. The system will encourage participation of citizens in democratic processes.

Layered Ontological Modelling for Web Service-Oriented Model-Driven Architecture

Modelling is recognised as an essential activity in the architectural design of software systems. Model-driven architecture (MDA) is a framework implementing this idea. Ontologies are knowledge representation frameworks that are ideally suited to support modelling in this endeavour. We propose here a layered ontological framework that addresses domain modelling, architectural modelling, and int...

Ontologies for Scrutable Student Modelling in Adaptive E-Learning

This paper discusses the problem of inference about core terms in a student model representing a learner’s knowledge, using ontological inference. We try to address the challenge of modelling the student's high level knowledge, based upon user modelling evidence that is associated with fine-grained elements of the model, drawn from the learner’s activity in an online learning system. We also de...

Content-driven Design and Architecture of E-learning Applications

E-learning applications combine content with learning technology systems to support the creation of content and its delivery to the learner. In the future, we can expect the distinction between learning content and its supporting infrastructure to become blurred. Content objects will interact with infrastructure services as independent objects. Our solution to the development of e-learning appl...

Combining ontological and temporal formalisms for composite activity modelling and recognition in smart homes

Activity recognition is essential in providing activity assistance for users in smart homes. While significant progress has been made for single-user single-activity recognition, it still remains a challenge to carry out real-time progressive composite activity recognition. This paper introduces a hybrid ontological and temporal approach to composite activity modelling and recognition by extend...
