چکیده

We consider a class of differential equations, ẍ + γẋ + x = f(ωt), with p ∈ N and ω ∈ R, describing one-dimensional dissipative systems subject to a periodic forcing. For p = 1 the equation describes a resistor-inductor-varactor circuit, hence the name ‘varactor equation’. We concentrate on the limit cycle described by the trajectory with the same period as the forcing; numerically, for γ large enough, it appears to attract all trajectories which remain bounded in phase space. We find estimates for the basin of attraction of this limit cycle, which are good for large values of γ. Also, we show that the results extend to the case of quasi-periodic forcing, provided the frequency vector ω satisfies a Diophantine condition — for instance, the Bryuno or the standard Diophantine condition.

Invariant sets for the varactor equation

The differential equation ẍ+γẋ+x = f(t) with f(t) positive, periodic and continuous is studied. After describing some physical applications of this equation, we construct a variety of invariant sets for it, thereby partitioning the phase plane into regions in which solutions grow without bound and also those in which bounded periodic solutions exist.

Pullback D-attractors for non-autonomous partly dissipative reaction-diffusion equations in unbounded domains

At present paper, we establish the existence of pullback $mathcal{D}$-attractor for the process associated with non-autonomous partly dissipative reaction-diffusion equation in $L^2(mathbb{R}^n)times L^2(mathbb{R}^n)$. In order to do this, by energy equation method we show that the process, which possesses a pullback $mathcal{D}$-absorbing set, is pullback $widehat{D}_0$-asymptotically compact.

Coexisting periodic attractors in injection locked diode lasers

We present experimental evidence of coexisting periodic attractors in a semiconductor laser subject to external optical injection. The coexisting attractors appear after the semiconductor laser has undergone a Hopf bifurcation from the locked steady state. We consider the single-mode rate equations and derive a third-order differential equation for the phase of the laser field. We then analyse ...

The Uniform Attractors for the Nonhomogeneous 2D Navier-Stokes Equations in Some Unbounded Domain

We consider the attractors for the two-dimensional nonautonomous Navier-Stokes equations in some unbounded domain Ω with nonhomogeneous boundary conditions. We apply the so-called uniformly ω-limit compact approach to nonhomogeneous Navier-Stokes equation as well as a method to verify it. Assuming f ∈ Lloc 0, T ;L2 Ω , which is translation compact and φ ∈ C1 b R ;H2 R1 × {±L} asymptotically alm...

Attractors for the Viscous Camassa-holm Equation

Abstract. We consider the viscous Camassa-Holm equation subject to an external force, where the viscosity term is given by second order differential operator in divergence form. We show that under some mild assumptions on the viscosity term, one has global wellposedness both in the periodic case and the case of the whole line. In the periodic case, we show the existence of global attractors in ...
