1.1.1. Definitions 1. Bounded Above (for a set): Let S ⊂ R. S is bounded above if ∃L ∈ R such that x ≤ L for all x ∈ S. L is called an upper bound for S. (Similar definition for bounded below and lower bound) 2. Bounded (for a set): Let S be a set. S is bounded if S is bounded above and bounded below. 3. Least Upper Bound (LUB) Axiom for R (for a set): Let S ⊂ R be bounded above. Then !∃L ∈ R such that (a) x ≤ L for all x ∈ S (i.e., L is an upper bound for S) (b) if L′ < L, then ∃x ∈ S such that x > L′. Alternatively, given ǫ > 0, ∃xǫ ∈ S such that L− ǫ < xǫ. (i.e., L is the least upper bound for S) L is called the least upper bound of S and is denoted by supS. (Similar statement for Greatest Lower Bound (GLB) Axiom for R and inf S) 4. Sequence: Let S ⊂ R be nonempty. A sequence s in S is (a) an ordered list with entries in S, i.e., s = (s1, s2, ..., sk, ...), where sk is the entry in the kth position and every s ∈ S. We write s = {sk} ∞ k=1 or s = {sk}. (b) a function from N into S.

The study population includes recruited employees in IOOC in 1385. The data was gathered u...
متن کاملInverse Problem for a Curved Quantum Guide
In this paper, we consider the Dirichlet Laplacian operator on a curved quantum guide in Rn (n = 2, 3). If the reference curve is not straight but asymptotically straight, we prove that the data of one eigenfunction associated with its eigenvalue determines the curvature.
متن کاملL” Bounds for Solutions of Parametrized Elliptic Equations*
This generalizes earlier results (T. 1. Seidman, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 30 (1981) 305-311) for --du=,If(f(u). For the family of equations (*) Au=g(u, A) with appropriate boundary conditions the object is to construct from g and the boundary conditions a function r&I, r) such that a bound y(l) on llullrn can be obtained by solving the ODE: y’(n) = ~(1, y) with y(&) = B(I,) = bound at 1= &.
متن کاملP169: The Effect of Math Instructional Interventions on Math Anxiety and Attitude towards Mathematics
In recent years, mathematics is an essential aspect of all areas of daily life and the best predictor of being successful in economic situations of society. For many students, the mathematics accompanied with frustration, anxiety and negative attitudes towards mathematics. These students believe their anxiety have been derived from their math teachers, math misconception and weakness in math as...
متن کاملVariational approach to the sixth-order boundary value problems
Recently, Wazwaz [Appl. Math. Comput. 118 (2001) 311–325] applied the Adomian s decomposition method to solve analytically the solution of sixth-order boundary value problems. The same problem is discussed via the variational principle, which reveals to be much more simpler and much more efficient. 2002 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
