A simple definition of hidden modes, poles and zeros

چکیده
This paper should be read in conjunction with [8], where basic structural properties, such as controllability, observability and state-variable representation, of constant or time-varying generalized linear systems were examined in the context of module theory. Our aim here is to illustrate this approach by giving a simple and transparent definition of hidden modes, poles and zeros of constant multivariable linear systems. The algebraic interpretation of poles and zeros is of course easy via transfer matrices (see, e.g., Kailath [10]). The need has nevertheless been felt by several authors (cf. Francis and Wonham [9], MacFarlane and Karkanias [12], Wonham [15], Wyman and Sain [16], Conte and Perdon [3]) for other types of developments. The first attempt with multivariable hidden modes is due to Rosenbrock [13] (see also Blomberg and Ylinen [1] and Callier and Desoer [2]). The fact that this field of research is still active is demonstrated by a recent and well documented survey due to Schrader and Sain [14]. Elementary module theory permits to define a system without reference to a peculiar choice of equations [8]. It is therefore possible to circumvent some of the difficulties which were previously encountered. Hidden modes, poles and zeros are characterized as the eigenvalues of the derivation d/dt acting on appropriate finitely generated torsion modules.

Presenting an Optimized Combinational Controller based on NSGA-II for Boost Switching Converter
The main goal of this research is to design a new digital controller for a boost-switching converter in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM), which operates in Voltage Mode Control (VMC). Boost converter transfer function in the mentioned modes have one Right Half Plane (RHP) zero and a pair of complex poles while their places are severely dependent on input voltage, reference voltage and converter...
متن کاملSensitivity of the Transmission Zeros of Flexible Space Structures
The uncertainties inherent in the dynamics of flexible spacecraft make sensitivity and robustness questions very important when designing vibration isolation systems for these vehicles. One technique recently proposed for this problem is pole/zero cancellation, in which state feedback is used to make as many closed-loop modes as possible unobservable at the points on the structure where vibrati...
متن کاملRegeneration of frequency response functions from poles and zeros: a discussion with implications for cepstrum-based operational modal analysis
Operational modal analysis (OMA) seeks to determine a structure’s dynamic characteristics from response-only measurements, which comprise both excitation and transmission path effects. The cepstrum has been used successfully in a number of applications to separate these source and path effects, after which the poles and zeros of the transfer function can be obtained via a curve-fitting process....
متن کاملA Multiple-Input Multiple-Output Cepstrum
This paper extends the concept of scalar cepstrum coefficients from single-input single-output linear time invariant dynamical systems to multiple-input multiple-output models, making use of the Smith-McMillan form of the transfer function. These coefficients are interpreted in terms of poles and transmission zeros of the underlying dynamical system. We present a method to compute the MIMO ceps...
متن کاملIntegral control of collocated smart structures [6525-71]
This paper introduces a simple and robust technique for vibration control in smart structures with collocated sensors and actuators. The technique is called Integral Resonant Control (IRC). We show that by adding a direct feed-through to a collocated system, the transfer function can be modified from containing resonant poles followed by interlaced zeros, to zeros followed by interlaced poles. ...
