چکیده

This study was aimed at defining the role of active phases in supported LiCl and LiCl–DyCl3 catalysts in the catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of n-butane. LiCl supported on silica displayed the highest activity and selectivity in n-butane ODH compared with other alkali metal halides. Addition of DyCl3 increased the activity. TPO, XRD and Raman light scattering (RLS) data showed that LiCl and DyCl3 formed during the preparation stage were converted to Li2O2 and DyOCl phases, respectively, by calcination in air at >400◦C. The results of separate TPR experiments (O2-oxidation–butane reduction) along with XRD, RLS and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) data proved that butane reacts mainly with oxygen species of Li2O2 phase at ODH conditions, probably attributed to [Li+O−] pairs. The proposed functions of chlorine and dynamic oxygen in the ODH of butane are consistent with the activity, selectivity and stability of silica and magnesia-supported catalysts. High thermal stability of Li2O2 in oxidized LiCl catalyst was attributed to the formation of protective Li2O·LiCl surface layer. Deactivation of LiCl/SiO2 catalyst in n-butane ODH is caused by the formation of Li-silicates at reaction conditions while LiCl/MgO display a stable performance. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. Vanadium Oxide Supported on Al-modified Titania Nanotubes for Oxidative Dehydrogenation of Propane

In this study, characterization of vanadia supported on Al-modified titania nanotubes (TiNTs) synthesized by the alkaline hydrothermal treatment of TiO2 powders has been reported. A promising catalyst for oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of propane was prepared via the incipient wetness impregnation method. The morphology and crystalline structure of TiNTs were characterized by transmission elec...

Operating condition effect on achieving higher propene yield in propane oxidative dehydrogenation process

Supported vanadia catalyst was successfully synthesized using wet impregnation of gamma-Alumina to study Propane Oxidative Dehydrogenation (POD). The prepared catalysts were characterized with XRD, BET, and TPR tests. In a broad temperature range (340 to 630°C), effects of vanadia loading (2.7, 5.4, and 9 wt%) and propane to oxygen ratio (3/1 to 1/3) were investigated on propane conversion as w...

The Ti3AlC2 MAX Phase as an Efficient Catalyst for Oxidative Dehydrogenation of n‐Butane

Dehydrogenation or oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of alkanes to produce alkenes directly from natural gas/shale gas is gaining in importance. Ti3 AlC2 , a MAX phase, which hitherto had not been used in catalysis, efficiently catalyzes the ODH of n-butane to butenes and butadiene, which are important intermediates for the synthesis of polymers and other compounds. The catalyst, which combines b...

The Effect of Alkali Metal Promoters on the Stability and Coke Formation of Platinum-Based Propane Dehydrogenation Catalysts: A Kinetic Study

The kinetics of catalyst deactivation and coke formation during dehydrogenation of propane over supported Pt–based catalysts and, in particular, the effect of alkali metal promoters on catalyst activity and stability were studied. The analysis of propane conversion data showed that there is an optimum level of alkali metal promoter loading for both catalyst activity and stability.A model ba...
