چکیده

The observation of the enhanced production of like–sign particle pairs by LEP experiments at Z does not insure that the observed correlations owe their origin to Bose-Einstein correlations(BEC). They could, for example, arise from final state interactions(FSI) between pions with small relative momenta. (we recommend not to call BEC and/or Colour Reconnection as ’FSI effects’ as it is generally used). It turns out that it is possible to discount the possibility of visible FSI effects by virtue of the smaller correlations between unlike-sign particles, which could arise from final state interaction effects too. As was shown at LEP, the unlike-sign particle configurations show also a correlations. The like-sign pions necessarily are in an isospin I=2 state and the unlike-sign pions are dominantly in the isospin I=0 state. The scattering length for I=2 is more than a factor three smaller than the one for I=0. This insures that the FSI effects for like-sign pion pairs are expected to be nearly an order of magnitude smaller than those observed in unlike-sign pions. Even if one would attribute all the correlations observed for unlike-sign pions to final state effects, then essentially none of

Segregation Behaviour of Particles in Gas Solid Fluidized Beds at Elevated Pressure

A comprehensive mathematical model based on the discrete particle model and computational fluid dynamics was utilized to investigate mixing and segregation of particles in fluidized beds at high pressure. To quantify the extent of mixing in the bed, the Lacey mixing index was used. Simulations were carried out with different mass fractions of small particles at various pressures ranging from 1 ...

Estimation of Health Effects Attributed to NO2 Exposure Using AirQ Model

Background & Aims of the Study: As an air pollutant, NO2 reacts with ammonia, moisture and other compounds to form small particles. These small particles may cause or aggravate respiratory diseases and exacerbate existing heart diseases, leading to increased hospital admissions and premature death. In this study, the AirQ2.2.3 model was used to evaluate adverse health effects caused by NO2 ...

Systematics of soft final state interactions in B decay

By using very general and well established features of soft strong interactions we show, contrary to conventional expectations, that (i) soft final state interactions (FSI) do not disappear for large mB, (ii) inelastic rescattering is expected to be the main source of soft FSI phases, and (iii) flavor off-diagonal FSI are suppressed by a power of mB, but are quite likely to be significant at mB...

Mass Measurement of the W - boson using the ALEPH Detector at LEP

The W-boson mass has been measured using the ALEPH detector at LEP. Preliminary results from data taken in 1998 are added to previous measurements to give m W = 80.411 ± 0.064(stat.) ± 0.037(syst.) ± 0.022(BE-CR) ± 0.018(LEP) GeV/c 2 .
