Least-squares Model-based Video Halftoning
نویسندگان
چکیده
A technique for halftoning video sequences is presented. First, an error metric is designed, incorporating psychophysical spatio-temporal contrast sensitivity data for the human visual system. An e cient strategy for producing halftone sequences that minimize the error is then developed. The technique is compared with video halftoning algorithms that do not consider the temporal aspect of the human visual system.

One - Dimensional Least - Squares Model - Based Halftoning
A least-squares model-based approach to digital halftoning is proposed. It exploits both a printer model and a model of visual perception. It produces a halftoned image that minimizes the squared error between the response of the visual model to the original image and the response of the printer and visual models to the halftoned image. For one-dimensional halftoning, where each column is proce...
متن کاملModel-Based Digital Halftoning
Digital halftoning is the process of generating a pattern of pixels with a limited number of colors that, when seen by the human eye, is perceived as a continuous-tone image. Digital halftoning is used to display continuous-tone images in media in which the direct rendition of the tones is impossible. The most common example of such media is ink or toner on paper, and the most common rendering ...

A least-squares model-based (LSMB) approach to digital halftoning is proposed. It exploits both a printer model and a model for visual perception. It attempts to produce an optimal halftoned reproduction, by minimizing the squared error between the response of the cascade of the printer and visual models to the binary image and the response of the visual model to the original gray-scale image. ...
متن کاملAdaptive threshold modulation for error diffusion halftoning
Grayscale digital image halftoning quantizes each pixel to one bit. In error diffusion halftoning, the quantization error at each pixel is filtered and fed back to the input in order to diffuse the quantization error among the neighboring grayscale pixels. Error diffusion introduces nonlinear distortion (directional artifacts), linear distortion (sharpening), and additive noise. Threshold modul...
متن کاملLeast-Squares Halftoning via Human Vision System and Markov Gradient Descent (LS-MGD): Algorithm and Analysis
Halftoning is the core algorithm governing most digital printing or imaging devices, by which images of continuous tones are converted to ensembles of discrete or quantum dots. It is through the human vision system (HVS) that such fields of quantum dots can be perceived almost identical to the original continuous images. In the current work, we propose a least-square based halftoning model with...
