چکیده
JDSF was recently contacted by the UC Forest Products Labor atory (FPL) with a request for madrone and tanoak logs for exper imental testing. The only requirement was that the logs be a minimum of 18 inches in diameter at the small end. Chief Sales Officer Hank Land and Heavy Forestry Equipment Operator Mike Williams were equal to the task. They felled, bucked and loaded the logs onto University trucks. A total of 15 eight-foot logs were shipped to FPL's Richmond laboratory.

Gas chromatographic analysis of in situ cyclitol utilization by Klebsielleae growing in redwood extracts.
Gas chromatographic analysis was employed to demonstrate in situ cyclitol utilization in aqueous extracts of redwood by isolates of Klebsiella, Enterobacter, and several other genera of gram-negative bacteria. In aqueous redwood extracts, all but one of the Klebsiella and Enterobacter isolates tested reached densities exceeding 5.0 x 10(6) cells/ml within 4 days, and all utilized pinitol and se...

Wood properties of giant sequoia (Sequoia gigantea [Lindl.] Decne.) were compared with those for other coniferous tree species. Wood properties such as specific gravity, various mechanical properties, extractive content, and decay resistance of young-growth giant sequoia are comparable to or more fa vorable than those of coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens [D. متن کاملRates and Implications of Rainfall Interception in a Coastal Redwood Forest
Throughfall was measured for a year at five-min intervals in 11 collectors randomly located on two plots in a second-growth redwood forest at the Caspar Creek Experimental Watersheds. Monitoring at one plot continued two more years, during which stemflow from 24 trees was also measured. Comparison of throughfall and stemflow to rainfall measured in adjacent clearings indicates throughfall and s...
