چکیده

The eŠect of rigor (formation of actomyosin complexes) on magnetization transfer was observed with a 1.5T clinical magnetic resonance (MR) imaging system. The magnetization transfer ratio of chemically skinned (calcium-sensitive) muscle ˆber preparations increased much more in a rigor state than in a relaxed state, while that of calcium-insensitive ˆber preparations and solutions showed no diŠerence. These results suggest that the formation of actomyosin complexes increased the magnetization transfer ratio. A clinical MR system is not only eŠective for medical imaging, but also has the potential to demonstrate physiological characteristics.

Visualization of neuromelanin in the Substantia nigra and locus ceruleus at 1.5T using a 3D-gradient echo sequence with magnetization transfer contrast.

Recent technical advances have enabled the visualization of neuromelanin in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) and locus ceruleus (LC) by 3-tesla (T) magnetic resonance imaging in vivo. In the present study, we successfully detected neuromelanin in the SNc and LC of 6 healthy volunteers at 1.5T using a 3D gradient echo sequence with off-resonance magnetization transfer contrast.

The Effect of Three Types of Military Boots’ Mileage on Knee Muscular Co-Contraction During Running

Purpose: Military boots’ mileage is a main factor that can be influence the risk of sustaining injuries during running. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of three types of military boots’ mileage on knee muscular co-contraction during running. Methods: Fifteen healthy males received three new pairs of military boots. They were asked to wear these shoes for over 6 months. ...

Analysis of Magnetization Transfer Ratio Measurements at 3T Using Multiple-Acquisition Balanced SSFP

Introduction. Magnetization transfer (MT) has become an important tool to study various tissue abnormalities, such as demyelination in brain white matter [1]. Recently, it has been shown that fast MT scans based on balanced steady-state free precession (bSSFP) with RF pulse modification achieve high SNR and high reproducibility at 1.5T [2]. At 3T, combination of multiple, phase-cycled, bSSFP sc...

Multi-Parametric MRI at 14T for Muscular Dystrophy Mice Treated with AAV Vector-Mediated Gene Therapy

The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of using quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as a non-invasive tool for the monitoring of gene therapy for muscular dystrophy. The clinical investigations for this family of diseases often involve surgical biopsy which limits the amount of information that can be obtained due to the invasive nature of the procedure. Thus, oth...

Quantitative contrast ratio comparison between T1 (TSE at 1.5T, FLAIR at 3T), magnetization prepared rapid gradient echo and subtraction imaging at 1.5T and 3T.

INTRODUCTION Creating contrast between normal anatomy and pathology is the main goal of imaging. Here we compare contrast ratios of enhancing brain lesions at 1.5T between T1 TSE, magnetization prepared rapid gradient echo (MPRAGE) and subtraction and at 3T between T1 FLAIR, MPRAGE and subtraction. METHODS Contrast ratio between enhancing lesions and normal contralateral brain was measured fo...
