Symplectic Embedding of a Massive Vector-Tensor Theory with Topological Coupling

چکیده
In the symplectic Lagrangian framework we newly embed an irreducible massive vector-tensor theory into a gauge invariant system, which has become reducible, by extending the configuration space to include an additional pair of scalar and vector fields, which give the desired Wess-Zumino action. A comparision with the BFT Hamiltonian embedding approach is also done. PACS: 11.10.Ef, 11.30.Ly, 11.15.-q

The Maximal D=5 Supergravities
The general Lagrangian for maximal supergravity in five spacetime dimensions is presented with vector potentials in the 27 and tensor fields in the 27 representation of E6(6). This novel tensor-vector system is subject to an intricate set of gauge transformations, describing 3(27 − t) massless helicity degrees of freedom for the vector fields and 3t massive spin degrees of freedom for the tenso...
متن کاملTopological Defects in Gauge Theories of Open p-branes
We study phase transitions induced by topological defects in compact Abelian gauge theories of open p-branes in (d+1) space-time dimensions. Starting from a massive antisymmetric tensor theory for the open p-branes we show how the condensation of topological defects can lead to a decoupled phase with a massless tensor coupled to closed (p − 1)branes and a massive tensor coupled to open (p + 1)-...
متن کاملAbelian Magnetic Monopoles and Topologically Massive Vector Bosons in Scalar-Tensor Gravity with Torsion Potential
A Lagrangian formulation describing the electromagnetic interaction mediated by topologically massive vector bosons between charged, spin1 2 fermions with an abelian magnetic monopole in a curved spacetime with non-minimal coupling and torsion potential is presented. The covariant field equations are obtained. The issue of coexistence of massive photons and magnetic monopoles is addressed in th...
متن کاملGauge Vector Masses from Flat Connections?
We suggest that four dimensional massive gauge vectors could be described by coupling ordinary Yang-Mills theory to a topological gauge theory. For this the coupling should excite a nontrivial degree of freedom from the topological theory, corresponding to the longitudinal polarization of a massive gauge vector. If the coupling can be selected so that further degrees of freedom are not excited,...
متن کامل2 On the dual equivalence of the self - dual and topologically massive B ∧ F models coupled to dynamical fermionic matter
We study the equivalence between the B ∧F self-dual (SDB∧F ) and the B ∧F topologically massive (TMB∧F ) models including the coupling to dynamical, U(1) charged fermionic matter. This is done through an iterative procedure of gauge embedding that produces the dual mapping. In the interactive cases, the minimal coupling adopted for both vector and tensor fields in the self-dual representation i...
