Technical Note - Nonparametric Data-Driven Algorithms for Multiproduct Inventory Systems with Censored Demand
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a nonparametric data-driven algorithm called DDM for the management of stochastic periodicreview multi-product inventory systems with a warehouse-capacity constraint. The demand distribution is not known a priori and the firm only has access to past sales data (often referred to as censored demand data). We measure performance of DDM through regret, the difference between the total expected cost of DDM and that of an oracle with access to the true demand distribution acting optimally. We characterize the rate of convergence guarantee of DDM. More specifically, we show that the average expected T -period cost incurred under DDM converges to the optimal cost at the rate of O(1/ √ T ). Our asymptotic analysis significantly generalizes approaches used in Huh and Rusmevichientong (2009) for the uncapacitated single-product inventory systems. We also discuss several extensions and conduct numerical experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.

متن کاملNonparametric Algorithms for Joint Pricing and Inventory Control with Lost-Sales and Censored Demand
We consider the classical joint pricing and inventory control problem with lost-sales and censored demand in which the customer’s response to selling price and the demand distribution are not known a priori, and the only available information for decision-making is the past sales data. Conventional approaches, such as stochastic approximation, online convex optimization, and continuum-armed ban...
متن کاملAdaptive Data-Driven Inventory Control with Censored Demand Based on Kaplan-Meier Estimator
Using the well-known product-limit form of the Kaplan-Meier estimator from statistics, we propose a new class of nonparametric adaptive data-driven policies for stochastic inventory control problems. We focus on the distribution-free newsvendor model with censored demands. The assumption is that the demand distribution is not known and there are only sales data available. We study the theoretic...
متن کاملEOQ Model with Cash Flow Oriented and Quantity Dependent Under Trade Credits (TECHNICAL NOTE)
Inventory models in which the demand rate dependents on the stock- dependent are based on the common real- life observation that greater product availability tends to stimulate more sales. In this study we develop an inventory model to determine an optimal ordering policy for quantity dependent demand rate and time dependent holding cost items with delay in payments permitted by the supplier un...
متن کاملNonparametric Demand Forecasting with Right Censored Observations
In a newsvendor inventory system, demand observations often get right censored when there are lost sales and no backordering. Demands for newsvendor-type products are often forecasted from censored observations. The Kaplan-Meier product limit estimator is the well-known nonparametric method to deal with censored data, but it is undefined beyond the largest observation if it is censored. To addr...
