چکیده

The isoscaling properties of isotopically resolved projectile residues from peripheral collisions of Kr (25 MeV/nucleon), Ni (25 MeV/nucleon) and Xe (20 MeV/nucleon) beams on various target pairs are employed to probe the symmetry energy coefficient of the nuclear binding energy. The present study focuses on heavy projectile fragments produced in peripheral and semiperipheral collisions near the onset of multifragment emission (E∗/A = 2–3 MeV). For these fragments, the measured average velocities are used to extract excitation energies. The excitation energies, in turn, are used to estimate the temperatures of the fragmenting quasiprojectiles in the framework the Fermi gas model. The isoscaling analysis of the fragment yields provided the isoscaling parameters α which, in combination with temperatures and isospin asymmetries provided the symmetry energy coefficient of the nuclear binding energy of the hot fragmenting quasiprojectiles. The extracted values of the symmetry energy coefficient at this excitation energy range (2–3 MeV/nucleon) are lower than the typical liquid-drop model value ∼ 25 MeV corresponding to ground-state nuclei and show a monotonic decrease with increasing excitation energy. This result is of importance in the formation of hot nuclei in heavy-ion reactions and in hot stellar environments such as supernova.

Heavy-Residue Isoscaling as a Probe of the Process of N/Z Equilibration

The isotopic and isobaric scaling behavior of the yield ratios of heavy projectile residues from the collisions of 25 MeV/nucleon 86Kr projectiles on 124Sn and 112Sn targets is investigated and shown to provide information on the process of N/Z equilibration occurring between the projectile and the target. The logarithmic slopes α and β ′ of the residue yield ratios with respect to residue neut...

Dynamical and sequential decay effects on isoscaling and density dependence of the symmetry energy

The isoscaling properties of the primary and final products are studied via isospin dependent quantum molecular dynamics (IQMD) model and the followed sequential decay model GEMINI, respectively. It is found that the isoscaling parameters α of both primary and final products keep no significant change for light fragments, but increases with the mass for intermediate and heavy products. The dyna...

Dynamical aspects of isotopic scaling

Investigation of the effect of dynamical stage established that the increasing width of initial Gaussian distributions is reflected by significant modification of the slope of final isoscaling plots after deexcitation. For narrow initial Gaussian distributions, the slope of isoscaling plots assumes the limiting value for two individual initial nuclei while for wide initial Gaussian distribution...

Symmetry energy of fragments produced in multifragmentation

Isospin properties of fragments measured in multifragmentation of Xe and Xe projectiles in mid-peripheral collisions with a lead target at 1 A GeV were studied within the statistical approach describing the liquid-gas nuclear phase transition. By analyzing the isoscaling phenomenon and the mean N-over-Z ratio of the fragments with Z=10-13 we have concluded that the symmetry energy of hot fragme...

Isoscaling and the symmetry energy in the central heavy ion collisions at intermediate energy

has been generally observed [1,2]. Here Yi(N,Z) are the fragment yield for systems i=1,2 with different neutron and proton composition. α, β are isoscaling parameters. As discussed in refs. [3-5], the isoscaling parameters and the symmetry energy coefficient are closely related. For a multifragmentation regime, as pointed out in Ref. [6], this relation is given by: ( ) ( ) T A Z a Z sym / / 4 2...
