Improved Direct Torque Control of Induction Motor Drive under Low Speed Operation

This paper presents a modified two level inverter topology to improve the low speed performance of the direct torque controlled (DTC) three phase induction motor drive. Proposed method is based on current ripple principle. In this technique, the inverter switching states are derived as a function of rotor speed. This method gives low ripple in flux and torque at low speed operation when compared with conventional DTC. Simulation results of proposed methods are presented and compared with conventional DTC method. KeywordsDirect torque control, Induction motor, Voltage source inverter.
