چکیده

© T O U C H B R I E F I N G S 2 0 1 2 Intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pharmacotherapy, introduced in 2004, has evolved over the last decade to revolutionize the treatment of patients suffering from subretinal choroidal neovascularization (CNV). Anti-VEGF agents, which are readily available today, are much better, more potent, and longer acting in comparison with previous treatment modalities, and therefore have dramatically improved the prognosis of patients with CNV.

Update on Advances in Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy - A Subtype of Subretinal Neovascularization

Polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) is a subtype of subretinal neovascularization and a variant of agerelated macular degeneration. Recent advances in diagnosis and treatment of this disease entity have improved the management of PCV and its outcomes. The diagnosis of PCV is often made based on funduscopic findings, but more definitively on indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) patterns. OCT...

Inhibition of Placenta Growth Factor Reduces Subretinal Mononuclear Phagocyte Accumulation in Choroidal Neovascularization.

Purpose The cellular immune response driven by mononuclear phagocytes (MPs) is crucial for choroidal neovascularization (CNV) progression. Case reports show that a switch from pure anti-vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A) intravitreal treatment to aflibercept, a drug with combined anti-VEGF-A and anti-placenta growth factor (PlGF) activity, can be beneficial for patients who do not re...

Real Life Clinical Effectiveness of Razumab® (World’s First Biosimilar Ranibizumab) in Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration: A Subgroup Analysis of Pooled Retrospective RE-ENACT Study

Wet age-related macular degeneration (wet AMD), a leading cause of vision loss globally, is a late-onset, multifactorial retinal degenerative disease. The characteristic features of wet AMD are neovascularization originating from the choroidal vasculature and spreading to the subretinal pigment epithelium or subretinal space, and increased intraretinal (IRF) or subretinal fluid (SRF) [1-4]. The...
