Use case 1: Stopped-meters

چکیده
Problem definition: A stopped-meter is a meter that reports zero during a predefined period of time. The zero report can occur for two reasons: either the meter is faulty or else there is legitimate zero-consumption in the property. The usual solution is to send a technician after a predefined period of time, but the problem is how to determine the optimum period of time. If the period is too short, then in most cases, the technician will go for nothing. If the period is too long a customer may consume a lot of water without paying, so we have a situation of non revenue water for a long time.

Pheromone source location by flying moths: a supplementary non-anemotactic mechanism.
After the wind was stopped in an insect flight tunnel, male oriental fruit moths continued to fly in zigzag fashion along a stationary pheromone plume. Their lateral excursions from the time-averaged pheromone plume were no greater without wind than in wind of 38 centimeters per second. When the pheromone plume was removed and the wind stopped, males initiated wider track reversals when they re...
متن کاملStakeholder values and platform wars: smart meters in the Netherlands
The interconnected nature of the different components of smart grids is a prime example of complexity in technological systems. Developing such systems is highly dependent on the wishes and needs of end-users and other stakeholders. We argue that stakeholder values should be taken into consideration during the design and standardisation of complex infrastructures, and illustrate this with a cas...

Groundwater drought denotes the condition and hazard during a prolonged meteorological drought when groundwater resources decline and become unavailable or inaccessible for human use. The aim of this study is to identify the influencial factors on groundwater drought in Hamadan- Bahar Watershed,Iran, to understand the forcing mechanisms. The Standardised Precipitation Index (SPI) has been used ...
متن کاملInvestigating atmospheric instability indices coinciding with hails of moderate to severe size diameters: case study: Synoptic station in Bandar Abbas
Hail phenomenon is one of the hazardous weather phenomena that can make the highest amount of damage to farms, gardens, cars, rooftops, etc. in a very short time (a few minutes), depending on the diameter of the particles. One of the best ways to study this devastating climatic phenomenon is the use of atmospheric instability indices. The indices which are calculated with the help of radiosonde...
متن کاملMini-Wright peak flow meters are reliable after 5 years use. Dutch CNSLD Study Group.
In studies with a long-term follow-up, peak expiratory flow (PEF) meters are often used to assess bronchial obstruction. The question arises whether data obtained with these frequently used meters are still reliable after several years of use, and whether the old meters should be renewed after a certain period. In the present study, we tested the reliability of PEF values measured with mini-Wri...
