چکیده

Demain, A. L. (Merck Sharp & Dohme Research Laboratories, Rahway, N.J.), Joanne F. Newkirk, and D. Hendlin. Effect of methionine, norleucine, and lysine derivatives on cephalosporin C formation in chemically defined media. J. Bacteriol. 85: 339-344. 1963.-Chemically defined media were developed for production of cephalosporin C by Cephalosporium sp. In such media, the requirement for methionine can be satisfied by norleucine. Further stimulation of antibiotic production was obtained with the lysine derivatives epsilon-N-acetyl-l-lysine and epsilon-aminocaproic acid but not with lysine itself. Also inactive were alpha-aminoadipic and ketoadipic acids. Other lysine derivatives were found to inhibit cephalosporin C production at 0.01 m. The final medium supported the production of approximately 0.5 g of cephalosporin C per liter of medium.

Biosynthesis of Cephalosporin C: I. Factors Affecting the Fermentation.

A series of complex and synthetic media have been developed that are suitable for the production of cephalosporin C and cephalosporin N by a mutant strain of Cephalosporium (C.M.I. 49,137). dl-Methionine increased the yield of both antibiotics, with more effect on cephalosporin N. l-Cystine had a greater enhancing effect on formation of cephalosporin C than on formation of cephalosporin N in sy...

Production of cephalosporin C by single and double sulfur auxotrophic mutants of Cephalosporium acremonium.

An early blocked sulfur amino acid auxotroph, Cephalosporium acremonium mutant 274-1 (which could be satisfied by methionine or cysteine), utilized organic sulfur compounds for cephalosporin C production in the following order of decreasing effectiveness; methionine > cystathionine > cysteine, despite the fact that cysteine is considered to be the immediate precursor of the antibiotic. When a g...

Effect of balancing low protein diets for methionine and lysine on performance of early lactation Holstein cows in hot environmental temperature

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of balancing low protein diets for methionine and lysine on performance of early lactation Holstein cows under hot environmental temperature. Twenty one multiparous Holstein cows in early lactation were allocated to three experimental rations including, 1) High protein ration with 17.5% CP, 2) Medium protein ration with 16% CP and 12 g/d rumen p...

Biosynthesis of cephalosporin C.

The superiority of d-methionine over l-methionine for stimulation of cephalosporin C synthesis in a crude medium was confirmed. The optimal level of dl-methionine was 0.5%. Methionine stimulates growth slightly but this is not thought to be the cause of the marked stimulation of antibiotic synthesis. Of a large number of sulfur compounds tested, only dl-methionine-dl-sulfoxide and S-methyl-l-cy...
